Astro Bot Has Reportedly Sold Better Than Every Non-Mario 3D Platformer in Europe in the Last Decade

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt and a particular fondness for 3D platformers, let me tell you that Astro Bot has caught my attention like no other game of its kind in recent memory. Having played through countless games since the dawn of this genre, I can confidently say that Astro Bot’s sales figures are nothing short of astounding – especially when compared to some of the more recent entries in the market.

Reports coming from the US and the UK indicate that Astro Bot has had a strong debut in terms of sales, and additional data continues to support this, even without official numbers from Sony being released yet.

According to a tweet by Christopher Dring from GamesIndustry, data from the GSD shows that Astro Bot’s sales during its launch month of September were 34% greater than Sonic Frontiers achieved in its own launch month, and a staggering 52% higher than Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

Indeed, Dring reports that Astro Bot has surpassed 200,000 unit sales in Europe by the end of September. Remarkably, its launch sales in this region outperformed almost every 3D platformer released over the past decade, excluding the Super Mario series.

The game “Astro Bot” can be found on the PlayStation 5, with a planned release of free downloadable content (DLC) this coming autumn. Check out our review of the game by following the link provided.

Across Europe, it excelled beyond expectations. However, its influence is limited to the market where it operates. Astro Bot has outperformed nearly every new 3D platform game of the last decade, with Mario being the exception. Its long-term success remains uncertain, but it’s made a powerful debut for the genre.
