As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the prospect of a new Astro Bot adventure has me absolutely thrilled! I’ve always been a fan of platformers and the innovative gameplay mechanics that Team Asobi brings to the table are nothing short of brilliant. The hints towards a sequel in the Platinum trophy description have only served to fuel my anticipation, and I can’t wait to see what new worlds Astro will traverse in his next adventure.
It appears that both PlayStation and Team Asobi might be hinting at a potential follow-up for Astro Bot. Interestingly, Astro Bot is essentially an extended version of Astro’s Playroom, which comes included when you buy a PlayStation 5 console. Given that Astro’s first solo adventure is about to launch on PS5 soon, it seems reasonable to anticipate more games featuring this character in the future.
Just now, the complete collection of trophies for the game ‘Astro Bot’ was made public on Exophase ahead of its release. The trophies mostly follow what one would expect, with most of them being earned by completing the main story and rescuing the diverse Bots scattered throughout the game. However, it’s the Platinum trophy for ‘Astro Bot’ that leaves us wondering. In fact, the description of the Platinum trophy applauds players for their achievement and suggests, “see you in Astro’s next adventure!” Whether this is a hint at a new Astro Bot game being developed remains to be seen, but it certainly piques our curiosity.
If there’s an ongoing development of a new Astro Bot game, it wouldn’t be unexpected given the recent changes in Team Asobi. In 2021, this studio separated from Japan Studio to become an independent entity within Sony’s PlayStation Studios family. Since then, they have exclusively produced Astro Bot games, with the latest being Astro Bot. It’s reasonable to assume that the studio will continue developing games in this series, especially if Astro Bot achieves both critical and commercial acclaim. As for Astro’s future, only the passage of time will reveal what PlayStation has planned for this beloved IP.
