Instead of the usual format, finalists in the latest Astro Bot speedrunning tournament organized by PlayStation faced off in a previously unseen level, marking a fresh twist to the competition.
To conquer the stage, both contenders received the slow-motion power-up as an option, which they utilized frequently during their attempts at the level, a stage seemingly tailored for such slow-motion action along with the flower umbrella. The competition stage, themed on water and ice, presented challenges such as slippery ice surfaces and fragile platforms that required careful navigation by both players.
In the end, Team Circle clinched the tournament title with an impressive fastest time of 34.51.6 seconds, just edging out Team Square who came in a close second with a time of 34.84.1 seconds. It’s important to note that neither team had any prior knowledge of the level played during the finals, and they might have achieved even quicker completion times if given an opportunity to rehearse.
Developer Team Asobi has yet to reveal if they will be releasing a new level as an update to the game, allowing players to create their own records.
The latest significant change for the game “Astro Bot” occurred in December, introducing the festive Winter Wonder stage. This level catered to players of all ages, with a challenge level suitable for both kids and adults.
