As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, let me tell you that I am utterly thrilled about the latest update for Astro Bot on PS5 – Winter Wonder! After wrapping up the main game (pun intended), I’ve been eagerly awaiting some fresh content to keep me engaged, and this festive DLC fits the bill perfectly.
Update [13th Dec 2024, 11:55am]: The new Christmas-themed DLC level for Winter Wonder, Astro Bot’s recently announced expansion, is now ready to be played. To access it, simply download the latest game update (approximately 3 GB). Once installed, you can find a comet in the galaxy map; enter the comet and the new level will be unlocked for play.
It’s important to remember that you should finish the primary game first, only then will you be able to explore this additional stage for free.
The level features seven new Special Bots to collect as you explore the festivities, too.
You might have assumed that the series of free DLC updates for Astro Bot ended? However, there’s one final surprise in store for fans of the lively platformer on PS5, and it becomes available for all players tomorrow, 12th December, at no cost.
Instead of saying “This special new DLC is a festive-themed level named Winter Wonder,” you could rephrase it as “The newly released DLC introduces a seasonal stage titled ‘Winter Wonder.’ You’ll be able to access this vibrant, Christmas-inspired world after finishing the main game, unlike the previous additions that focused on challenging speedruns.
While details are scarce, we do get a brief look at what it comprises in the above clip.
The scene appears remarkably cheerful, almost as if it were straight out of Santa’s workshop, yet hidden within it are some unique robots to locate.
In the credits of Astro Bot, I stumbled upon several intriguing game elements, personalities, and series that haven’t shown up within the game itself so far.
