Ben Fisher, the lead designer, has unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer for the upcoming game titled “Atomfall,” produced by Rebellion. This new video provides a more detailed glimpse into “Atomfall” than we’ve previously seen in trailers. Take a look at it below.
The trailer underscores the importance of players being cautious when gathering resources and supplies they may require. It initiates by displaying a player sneaking through dilapidated structures in search of equipment. During this journey, the player is also tasked with finding strategies to confront groups of roaming outlaws.
While gathering resources for crafting, players can additionally discover clues hidden as notes. These clues serve to guide them further in unraveling the mystery behind the present condition of the world.
The finale of the trailer showcases some intense battles. To initiate, we witness a covert assassination, but soon it escalates into a massive brawl. Once our hero exhausts ammunition for his firearms, he resorts to hand-to-hand combat against additional adversaries.
In the recently unveiled teaser for Atomfall, there was a greater emphasis on the game’s detective elements, revealing that players will encounter and resolve numerous puzzles scattered throughout the game environment.
Previously, Fisher discussed how the creation of Atomfall underwent numerous revisions as the studio refined their vision for the game. He attributed this to the common occurrence of initial design concepts needing adjustments later during the development process.
He explained that when working on any design or content, it’s essential to keep in mind that your current solution might not be the final one. It’s your best guess at the moment, but you can only verify it once it’s applied in context. Therefore, always allow for changes (iteration) and ensure your work is set up in a way that makes it easy to modify. However, remember that flexibility doesn’t come without a cost.
Lately, the studio has discussed that their upcoming game, Atomfall, will showcase some of their most innovative and peculiar concepts. During a recent interview, Fisher mentioned that as a fresh endeavor for the studio, Atomfall provides ample opportunities for experimentation.
He stated that once we identified our key creative foundations, we boldly moved forward and delved into more exploratory work. Some of these experiments are risky as they may not always yield a definite outcome.
Game art director Ryan Greene has mentioned that the game includes an investigative element, where players must venture out to uncover leads on their own instead of following pre-set objectives marked for them.
Initially, feel free to explore any path or line of inquiry that suits you. However, since your resources will be limited, certain decisions might not yield favorable outcomes, as pointed out by Greene.
The game titled “Atomfall” will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S starting March 27th. Take a look at the trailer released in January, which offers a glimpse into its world concept.
