As a gamer, I can’t help but strive for the optimal ending when playing digital games, especially if it’s a secret one. More often than not, reaching that goal is no easy feat, as one misstep can deny us the “happily ever after.” This, in essence, encapsulates the challenge of the Oubliette ending in the game Atomfall.
In a post-apocalyptic Britain, the best possible outcome isn’t unattainable, but it’s essential to be well-prepared for such an eventuality.
How to have Oubliette ending?
In the hidden ending of “Atomfall“, collaboration with Doctor Holder leads us to the secretive outcome. Unlike what it seems, his request appears straightforward – Doctor Holder intends to poison Oberon, effectively rendering it harmless forever. However, this task is beyond his capabilities alone, making our assistance essential.
- Before any negotiations can take place, we need to find Holder. The scientist is in the basement of St. Katherine’s Church, we will find the key in the medical station of The Interchange. During the first conversation, the doctor will explain his plan to us – due to the desired ending, cooperation is highly recommended.
- Next, we need to return to the medical section to obtain the sample needed to poison Oberon. The required material can be found on the lower level, which we can access thanks to the entrance pass received from Holder. A mandatory point will also be the release of Dr. Garrow from prison, as she is a key element of the finale.
- Having the necessary sample, we return to Dr. Holder. The man will ask us in the meantime about the fate of Dr. Garrow. Assuming that we politely let her out of the cell, she will return to The Interchange, where the final confrontation between her and Holder will take place. Our new ally avenges the disaster brought upon the team of scientists, and then hands us an already poisoned sample.
- Now we face the most difficult moment: poisoning the Oberon. First, we need to head out to the vicinity of the excavation site to activate the fire protection systems (while also getting rid of a few opponents). The levers are located on both sides of the outpost.
- Once we deal with the levers, we can place the poisoned sample in the system. The place to do so can be found to the left of the entrance to the control room, from which you just need to pull the right lever to kill Oberon.
- In the end, we have to escape from the excavation site, with several enemies standing in our way, including Mother Jago. Doctor Holder is waiting for us in the medical tunnels under The Interchange, which we will access through the entrance from the Slatten Dale side. The signposts placed along the path will be helpful.
In the finale of the Oubliette, we make our getaway alongside Doctor Holder through concealed passages beneath the complex. Interestingly, it transpired that the most definitive method to subdue Oberon was through poisoning, which effectively ruled out any further experiments in this regard.
Destroying a facility associated with different outcomes might merely cut it off from global connections for a while, but it won’t completely eliminate it. If you opt to destroy Oberon instead of contaminating it, we can recover the data where Dr. Holder explains that our actions simply postpone the time when someone will rediscover it once more.
Regrettably, everything comes with a cost. Due to the harmful agents within us, it seems we must stay hidden for a while. If we don’t, there’s a risk that we might become part of the experiments ourselves. Remarkably, under these circumstances, this can be seen as a hopeful outcome, given the potential future of our world.
