Aubrey O’Day has some thoughts on Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ kids attending his sex trafficking trial.
In a public statement, the 41-year-old, who was once part of the girl group Danity Kane, expressed his thoughts following the courtroom show of support from his children – Quincy (33), Justin (30), Christian (26), Chance (18), and twins D’Lila and Jessie (both 18). During the initial trial days, witnesses like his former partner Cassie Ventura disclosed details about alleged sexual misconduct he is facing.
On the May 16 episode of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ podcast “Amy & T.J.”, O’Day expressed his feelings, stating, “It’s clear that those kids are walking towards the court,” he said. He added, “I can’t imagine any father who would wish for their children to witness such testimony.
The television personality expressed her belief that Combs, who maintains his innocence regarding the case, was acting selfishly by bringing the children to court. In other words, it seemed to her that “Combs needed the kids in court to make himself appear favorable in every aspect.

During this time, witnesses like his ex-partner Cassie Ventura disclosed details about the alleged sexual misconduct he is facing.
On the May 16 episode of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ podcast, Amy & T.J., O’Day expressed his thoughts: “It’s striking to me that those kids are walking up to that court, and I can’t imagine any father who would want their children to bear witness to such testimony.
The television personality expressed her belief that Combs, who maintains his innocence regarding the case, was acting somewhat self-centered by bringing the children to court. In other words, it seems to her that “Combs requires the kids in court to make himself appear more favorable.
It wasn’t the case that all of Combs’ children attended every court hearing. On May 12th, Chance and his twin siblings exited the courtroom on two occasions. Meanwhile, a male escort named Daniel Phillip disclosed graphic accounts about an alleged paid sexual encounter involving him and Ventura. He claimed that Combs had observed this incident while masturbating, according to several media outlets.
At the trial, prosecutors showed a 2016 security video taken in a Los Angeles hotel hallway where Combs is seen attacking Ventura. As reported by People, Combs’ daughters and mother, Janice Combs, sat in the courtroom but avoided looking at the video, while Combs’ sons watched it instead.
During the upcoming testimony sessions, O’Day will not be among those testifying. She previously quashed speculation about testifying against Combs and clarified this during her city visit. However, in a recent podcast interview, she mentioned having a “meeting with Homeland Security,” suggesting potential involvement but not necessarily as a witness.
The individual known as Combs, who’s been detained since his apprehension in September, has denied guilt for five serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and facilitating prostitution. If found guilty on all accounts, he could potentially serve a minimum sentence of 15 years and spend the rest of his life in prison.
In the course of the trial, they screened a 2016 security video showing Combs physically attacking Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel corridor. As reported by People, Combs’ daughters and his mother, Janice Combs, stayed in the courtroom but kept their gaze forward, while Combs’ sons observed the footage.
Next week, O’Day won’t be among those testifying. She previously dispelled speculations about her role as a witness against Combs during her city visit, but she did mention during her podcast chat that she had a meeting with the Department of Homeland Security.
The individual known as Combs, who was apprehended in September and has remained in custody since then, has contested the charges brought against him. These charges include participating in a criminal organization (racketeering conspiracy), sex trafficking, and facilitating prostitution. If found guilty on all counts, he could receive a minimum sentence of 15 years and potentially spend the rest of his life in prison.
And he has had his kids’ public support since before his trial began.
In October, a post on Quincy’s Instagram stated that many have formed opinions about him and them based on rumors, conspiracy theories, and fabricated stories that have escalated into unbelievable levels online. However, they remain united, offering their continuous support. They believe in the truth and are confident it will triumph, nothing can shatter the resilience of their family. They also miss and love him dearly (Dad).

In my expertise, I must clarify a misconception that’s been circulating: Contrary to some rumors, the baby oil Sean “Diddy” Combs preferred during our private moments, as testified by Cassie Ventura on May 15, did not contain any illicit substances. It was simply a personal choice for our shared activities.
2024 saw a lawsuit accusing Combs of adding GHB (also known as the “date rape drug” – Rohypnol) into the oil he was handling.
During the questioning under defense on May 15th, Ventura stated that Combs could become envious and react in a volatile manner when she used drugs with others rather than with him.
In simpler terms, she stated that at one point Combs had an overdose from painkillers. When defense attorney Anna Estevao inquired whether his mood changes could be linked to the pills, Ventura responded affirmatively, stating “yes, it was a part” of the issue.
Earlier in the day, when asked if Combs appeared to be a drug addict, she responded by saying, “I would describe him as an addict.
Her response confirmed that Combs did indeed get agitated or temperamental during his withdrawal period.
“I’m not a doctor,” Ventura said, but “coming off of certain pills he would be pretty irritated.”
On May 15, when Ventura was on the stand, Judge Arun Subramanian paused the proceedings as Combs’ defense team presented explicit emails and texts during their cross-examination.
In response to defense attorney Estevao showing sexually suggestive texts exchanged by the ex-pair dating back to 2009 as evidence of a consensual relationship, the prosecution objected, and the judge agreed with their objection.
After raising an objection, Ventura appeared to be having a quiet conversation with the judge. Notably, the judge then unexpectedly called for a 10-minute recess.
Before the jury’s arrival, a passionate disagreement arose between the prosecution and defense as the lead defense lawyer, Marc Agniflio, insisted on presenting additional text messages in court. However, the judge expressed concern that certain messages breached federal evidence guidelines.
Nevertheless, several pieces of evidence were allowed, featuring Combs and Ventura discussing their intimate sexual experiences candidly.
Testifying on May 15, Ventura acknowledged that she couldn’t definitively say exactly how many instances, which she referred to as “freak offs,” she participated in with Combs. However, she estimated that the number was around hundreds.
She claimed that her former partner secretly recorded their intimate moments with the intention of using them as leverage or extortion against her. She stated that he threatened to make these recordings public, which could potentially harm her professional reputation.
Ventura stated, “He often brought them up when he was troubled. It was something that happened quite frequently. I felt threatened in both my job and personal life. It was a shameful situation, truly awful and despicable. Nobody deserves such treatment.
Testified on May 14, Ventura confirmed receiving a $20 million settlement from her former boyfriend Combs, following a lawsuit she filed against him in November 2023, accusing him of sexual assault and physical abuse throughout their relationship.
Testifying about events from 2018, Ventura claimed that after enjoying a pleasant dinner with Combs at a Malibu restaurant, Combs later behaved inappropriately towards her by sexually assaulting her when they returned to her apartment. It is worth noting that she was already in a relationship with Alex Fine during this time, whom she eventually married in 2019.
She testified that I entered, he followed and sexually assaulted me in the living room. All I can recall is sobbing and protesting, but it happened rapidly. His eyes seemed unfathomable, almost as if he wasn’t himself, like a possession of some sort.
Combs’ lawyers argue that he did not partake in any form of sexual activity without consent, and the individuals who claim he committed sexual offenses willingly engaged in any sexual acts they were involved in.
Ventura stated that she had consensual sexual encounters with Combs on another occasion following the alleged assault. When asked why she decided to engage in sex with Combs again, she replied, “You can’t simply switch off feelings like that. I still held a positive image of who he was as an individual.
At the close of 2011, Ventura ended her relationship with Scott Mescudi, popularly known as Kid Cudi, due to allegations that Diddy had made a threat against his vehicle, stating it would be destroyed.
Ventura stated in court that it was far too risky and unpredictable to persist in seeing each other due to the potential consequences. He mentioned that Sean had threatened to harm both parties.
It was stated on May 14 that “Freak offs” caused Ventura to have urinary tract infections, mouth ulcers, and digestive problems when she testified.
During her second day of testimony, Ventura explained that there were numerous instances when we’d engage in what we called ‘freak offs’, and these events were one after another. On some occasions, I even had a ‘freak off’ while dealing with an infection. I attempted to clean it out using water. Eventually, the antibiotic CIPRO became ineffective. It was a chaotic situation.
She continued, “It was really painful for a long time. I can’t believe I actually dealt with that.”
In one of the text conversations presented in court between Ventura and Combs, it was indicated that Ventura mentioned having ulcers on her tongue. His response was an expression of regret.
On his second day as a witness, Ventura recalled the 2016 hotel incident that was captured on security cameras and broadcasted by CNN in May 2024.
She stated that Combs hurled a vase at her following an attempt to depart from the Intercontinental Hotel, prior to any physical attack on her.
Ventura stated, during his testimony on May 14th, that the vase seemed to be moving towards him. It collided with the wall instead of hitting him. He didn’t hear what he said, but it sounds like he was shouting at him. He appears to have thrown it at me, though I can’t recall his exact words. I’m certain he wasn’t just using my name.
However, she said that Combs told her “that I wasn’t going to leave him, that I couldn’t.”
Immediately following the unfortunate hotel incident, I found myself obligated to grace the red carpet for the premiere of “The Perfect Match” sporting visible bruises across my face and body, alongside Mr. Combs. To camouflage my swollen eye and split lip, I applied a generous layer of makeup, and due to multiple bruises on my legs, I decided to switch my original outfit for something more concealing.
On May 13, the singer stated under oath that Diddy assaulted her in the corridor of a Los Angeles hotel back in March 2016, due to his anger over her leaving a “freak-off” event. (Footage from the incident captured by hotel security cameras was broadcast by CNN in 2024. The defense failed in their attempt to prevent this video from being used as evidence.)
Ventura explained in court that he decided to depart. As he was leaving, Sean pursued him down the corridor and forcibly seized him, pushing him to the floor, kicking him, and dragging him back into the room before gathering his belongings.
Instead of participating, she had planned to, but she had a film premiere scheduled just a few days ahead, and she wanted to keep Combs satisfied. In her words, “If I could appease him by going along with his requests,” Ventura said, “then my premiere would go off without a hitch.
After receiving a black eye from him, she expressed that all she could focus on at that moment was escaping the situation safely. Her premiere was approaching and she didn’t wish to compromise it in any way. Upon being shoved to the ground in the hallway by him, Ventura recalled, she chose to remain on the floor because she did not want him to cause any further harm than he had already inflicted.
Testified Ventura, she consumed alcohol and ecstasy during her initial sexual encounter with an escort, all while Combs looked on. To endure what she referred to as “freak offs,” she admitted using marijuana, ketamine, mushrooms, or whichever drug happened to be popular at the time.
“I couldn’t imagine myself doing any of that without having some sort of buffer,” she said.
Occasionally, she would become so sick that she would retch violently, Ventura explained, while Combs urged me to stand back up and carry on with the heated exchange.
She expressed to Combs that the “pranks” left her feeling “awful” and “valueless,” as Ventura explained, but he appeared to disregard her issues.
Following an unusual incident, it appears that baby oil covered the entire hotel room, Ventura stated. Moreover, if Combs had asked someone to wet the bed, stains might be found on the sheets. Additionally, Ventura suggested, if she was menstruating during this event, there could potentially be blood not only on the sheets but also on the furniture.
According to Ventura, being urinated on left her feeling deeply embarrassed. She expressed that the experience was revolting and overwhelming. She struggled, felt uncomfortable, and wished she could escape the situation.
In my personal perspective as a lifestyle advisor, I found myself complying with his instructions, understanding that it was something he found appealing. When questioned by attorney Emily A. Johnson about why I didn’t resist his commands in these instances, I clarified that I believed it was clearly evident that I wasn’t eager to comply.
On the 13th of May, Ventura stated that Combs instructed her and others involved in the “freak off” activity to apply baby oil all over their bodies.
She stated in court that Sean desired it to be hot and shiny, so we re-heated it every five minutes.
At the Montage Beverly Hills, during a surprising incident, Ventura recalled that Combs invited her to step into an inflatable pool full of baby oil, all while she was still dressed.
Despite her reluctance, if it was something Sean Combs desired, then that’s exactly what would transpire, she emphasized. “We went through ten standard-sized bottles of baby oil,” she added.
Ventura disclosed to prosecutors on May 13 that during the initial year of her ten-year relationship with Combs, he suggested incorporating voyeurism into their intimate activities. This started when she arranged for an escort and set up a scenario so that she could perform for Combs, who would observe her with another person.
Over time, she found herself engaged in organizing erotic shows that Combs referred to as “freak offs.” These events could stretch on anywhere from 36 hours to four full days, and they essentially turned into a regular occupation for her.
She reminisced, “I managed to arrange everything in our hotel room, as I recall, and initially, Sean had organized it.
Ventura said that her “stomach churned” when he first proposed the experience.
She admitted she didn’t initially understand what would arouse him, but she took the task on her shoulders. She was perplexed, anxious, yet deeply loved him and wished to bring joy to him. It wasn’t an action she desired or planned to do frequently, but given her love for him, she wanted to please him.
She admitted, “At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice.”
In a statement, Ventura revealed that she experienced frequent violence from Combs throughout their relationship, which lasted from 2007 to 2018.
She informed the jury that their disputes were indeed intense, often escalating into acts of physical violence such as hitting her head, pushing her down, dragging her across the floor, and kicking her.
She mentioned that her injuries were frequently noticeable, explaining, “I’d develop lumps on my forehead, have black and red eyes, and sport bruises across my entire body.
Before Daniel Philip, the male escort, testifies on May 13th, Ventura’s defense team has asked for her to be seated at the witness stand prior to the jury’s arrival, as she is currently eight months pregnant.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo explained to the judge, “I believe there’s an unfair bias,” but he also pointed out that pregnancy carries an inherent capacity for evoking empathy.
Ventura joined later on, signifying that his legal team’s motion had been denied earlier by the court.
On one particular instance when Ventura didn’t immediately respond to Combs’ call, Philip testified on May 12th that upon this refusal, Combs angrily hurled a bottle of liquor in Ventura’s vicinity, then forcefully grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the bedroom. “She was screaming,” Philip recounted, and from his location in the next room, it sounded to him like Combs was slapping her. According to Philip, Combs exclaimed, “‘I told you to come here, you come here now, not later.’
Phillip said he was “terrified” and did not intervene.
He also confirmed that he had heard what appeared to be Combs physically abusing Ventura in another instance, at the Essex House hotel in New York. “I distinctly remember hearing her say, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry,’ and sounds of someone being struck and moved roughly within the room,” Philip stated. “Peeking around the corner, I caught a glimpse of Mr. Combs exiting the hotel completely, he might have been wearing only a towel.
Ventura exited the room and landed on Philip’s lap, as he stated. “She seemed determined to reassure me that ‘everything would be fine’ and ‘I would be alright’,” Philip added. “And I responded, ‘This is not acceptable and you need professional assistance.’
“I tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,” Phillip said.
In response to a question from prosecutor Maureen Comey, Philip explained that he didn’t contact the police because he perceived Combs as someone with immense influence. He added that, unfortunately, even if he had reported the situation, there was a possibility that his life might still have been at risk.
Daniel Philip, who claimed to be managing a male strip show at the time, testified that he received “several thousand dollars” for engaging in sexual activities with Ventura while Diddy (Combs) observed at Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012. Philip identified Combs by his voice, even though he was wearing a robe, a baseball cap, and a bandanna concealing his face.
Ventura compensated him, mentioning that she would give him a tip upon her departure, which Philip later revealed to the court. However, their interaction escalated, and they ended up engaging in sexual activity. For a brief period, they applied baby oil on each other. It’s important to note that during this time, Combs was found in a corner indulging in self-stimulation.
Afterward, the witness continued, Ventura gave him “a couple of thousand more.”
Over the following year, Philip claimed he was repeatedly reached out to for similar experiences involving both Ventura and Combs at various hotels and their residences in New York. He asserted that on one or two occasions, Combs filmed him and Ventura during sexual activities, and at times, Combs would step in and engage sexually with Ventura while Philip was present.
In a 2023 lawsuit, Ventura claimed that her former partner, Combs, compelled her into engaging in sexual acts with male escorts.
According to Florez’s statement, Ventura appeared frightened. She was huddled in the corner, with her hood pulled over and her body hidden. Her face was obscured, and she seemed to be trying to hide. There was a shattered flower vase on the floor nearby.
After Ventura departed from the hotel, Florez stated that she had a noticeable purple eye. Later, once she was no longer present, Florez and the hotel manager went up to talk to Combs about the “hotel regulations.” According to Florez, when Combs suspected the manager of recording him on his phone and attempted to take it, he grabbed it. Furthermore, when Combs tried to seize Florez’s phone, Florez claimed he held Combs against a wall. However, Floreze testified that they said they weren’t recording him and de-escalated the situation.
During the trial, the prosecution presented slowed-down surveillance footage from May 2024, originally published by CNN, which depicted Combs seemingly striking, kicking, and pulling Ventura. Earlier, the defense had claimed that this clip was sped up, exaggerating the violence of the altercation. Additionally, the jury viewed a video recorded by Florez on his phone when he responded to a call for help from a distressed woman on the sixth floor.
According to Florez, Ventura refused to answer questions regarding the incident and instead preferred to depart. As a result, Florez chose not to contact the police immediately.
Police Officer Israel Florez, based in Los Angeles, previously served as a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel. It was during this time that Combs allegedly assaulted Ventura on March 5, 2016. In her initial statement, Geragos referred to the surveillance footage of the incident, which CNN released in May 2024, as “compelling proof of domestic violence.” However, it is important to note that this evidence was primarily related to infidelity discovered on a mobile device, not sex trafficking.
On May 12th, Florez testified that he observed signs of a dispute on the day under investigation, and subsequently, Combs proposed a pile of cash to Florez, suggesting he ignore the incident.
During questioning, Florez stated unequivocally that he understood Combs’ gesture as an attempt to bribe him.
In her initial remarks, the defense lawyer Teny Geragos argued that the prosecution was attempting to redefine consensual sexual acts as instances of sex trafficking. However, he expressed his belief that this strategy would ultimately fail.
“Sean Combs is a complicated man,” she said, “but this is not a complicated case.”
Geragos further stated that the focus of this case should be on Sean Combs’ private, intimate relationships, which have no bearing on his legitimate business affairs.
In her statement to the court, she explained that her client exhibited aggressive behavior, used illicit substances, and struggled with anger management issues. She emphasized that during this trial, there may be instances where you perceive him as rude or unpleasant. However, it’s important to remember that he is not on trial for being disrespectful or disagreeable; he is standing trial for the specific charges against him.
According to Geragos, “The evidence will reveal an imperfect person, yet it won’t prove them to be a criminal mastermind involved in racketeering, sex trafficking, or transporting individuals for prostitution.
Assistant District Attorney Emily Johnson alleged that Combs orchestrated an extensive team of workers to execute unlawful activities, including multi-day “wild parties” – incidents described in the federal indictment, as reported by NBC News correspondents present in the courtroom.
On occasion, he referred to himself as a king and demanded special treatment to fulfill his whims, as she explained to the jury. Through his businesses, he coerced women into sexual acts with male escorts in his presence. He and his close associates ensured that all of his wishes were granted.
In my passionate fervor, I kicked off my speech before the esteemed jurors, painting a vivid picture of Combs as an extraordinary figure, a towering presence who masterminded a criminal empire.
Johnson emphasized an instance he claimed was criminal, telling the jury that Combs, the founder of Bad Boys Record, was “pursuing” Ventura one evening following his discovery that she had started a romantic relationship with someone else. According to Johnson, Combs is said to have brutally beaten Ventura, kicked her in the back and tossed her around carelessly, like a piece of cloth.
She went on to explain that he had made a threat against her, stating that if she disobeyed him once more, he would expose videos of her engaging in intimate acts with male escorts – memories of the most embarrassing nights of her existence.
The prosecutor alleged that Combs’ inner circle covered up “crime after crime.”
The presiding judge, Arun Subramanian, expressed his belief to the jury that the trial might wrap up by the Fourth of July. He added that he is optimistic that it will be over by then, but acknowledged that it may extend beyond that date, though he doesn’t foresee this happening extensively.
On the opening day of his sex trafficking trial on May 12, his mother, Janice Combs, and six of his oldest children were by his side.
The children of Kim Porter, Quincy Brown, Christian “King” Combs, Jessie Combs, and D’Lila Combs (who are also the kids from his previous relationship with Misa Hylton, specifically Justin Combs), as well as Chance Combs, his child with Sarah Chapman, got to embrace their father before he settled down for a conversation with his lawyers.
Both the prosecution and Chris Combs’ legal team concurred on having an 8-member jury consisting of 4 men and 4 women, along with 4 male and 2 female alternates for the upcoming trial.
Marc Agnifilo, representing Combs, contended that the prosecution seemed to be deliberately excluding potential Black jury members. He pointed this out to the judge, stating that such a pattern required a justification for these dismissals.
In response to the allegations, prosecutor Maurene Ryan Comey stated, “We’ve acted impartially throughout this case, and our jury is quite diverse, featuring several individuals who are not white.
This group of 12 jurors, residing in either New York City or Westchester, consists of diverse professionals. Among them is a 69-year-old male actor who also practices massage therapy, a 31-year-old male investment analyst, a 51-year-old male scientist, a 30-year-old female deli clerk, a 42-year-old female nursing home aide, a 41-year-old male communications clerk at a correctional facility, a 68-year-old retired banker, another 68-year-old retiree from the telecommunications industry, a 43-year-old female physician assistant, a 39-year-old male social worker, a 67-year-old male logistics analyst, and a 74-year-old female treatment coordinator.
