Even though August still has a ways to go, Disney+ is already gearing up for the entertainment offerings in September. On Monday, Disney revealed the full schedule of movies and shows coming to their streaming platform throughout September, and there’s one particularly big original title that stands out among the rest.
In the ongoing story of Mission: Yozakura Family, they’ve been engaged in their last battle against Asa and his offspring, and it appears that the series is hurtling towards its conclusion at an increased pace. The latest installments of Mission: Yozakura Family have pitted the family against their most formidable adversary yet as Asa has initiated his plan to capture the twins and suppress the Yozakura Family’s powers. However, unyielding in spirit, Taiyo and his kin have taken a firm stand and ignited an epic battle against Asa, marking the start of the climactic conflicts portrayed in the comic so far.
Stepping into the multiverse, I found myself surrounded by familiar faces from the Deadpool & Wolverine universe. Among them were multiple versions of Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) and Logan (Hugh Jackman). The Deadpool Corps was a sight to behold, filled with one hundred kill-thirsty Deadpools – including Lady Deadpool (Blake Lively), Kidpool, Babypool (Inez and Olin Reynolds), Headpool (Nathan Fillion), and the gun-slinging Cowboypool (Matthew McConaughey). Various alternate universe Wolverines also made an appearance, such as Old Man Logan, Comic-Accurate Short King Wolverine, and Cavillrine (Henry Cavill).
One of the more talked-about titles out of last year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas was writer/director JT Mollner’s Strange Darling, which is finally being released in theaters. Despite nearly a year having passed since its initial screening, fans have been so committed to supporting the feature that they’ve kept a tight lid on all of the film’s twists and turns, and Strange Darling has even earned praise from Stephen King, who called it “really terrific” and a “clever masterpiece.” Strange Darling is finally set to land in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 23rd.
The manga of One Piece has recently concluded the Egghead Arc, shedding light on Dr. Vegapunk’s master plan hidden within his final worldwide message. For several chapters, the Straw Hats and Luffy found themselves in the heart of the Egghead Arc’s climax, frantically trying to escape from Dr. Vegapunk’s future island laboratory alive amidst chaos. Matters grew even more dire as the Five Elders intervened directly, exhibiting abilities akin to immortality that gave Gear 5 Luffy difficulty in keeping them at bay during their daring escape.
As a long-time fan of manga adaptations, I find myself thoroughly captivated by the ongoing anime series “Oshi no Ko.” Being immersed in the world of manga for many years has allowed me to appreciate the intricate details and thoughtful storytelling that goes into adapting these beloved works. The way the show is gradually transitioning from showing the behind-the-scenes process of creating a play, to actually performing it on stage, adds an exciting layer of realism that keeps me hooked.
