The captivating realm of Pandora is set to grow even more magical with the arrival of a stunningly beautiful new Na’vi tribe, who float gracefully through life. In an exclusive sneak peek of Avatar: Fire and Ash, premiering December 19, 2025, David Thewlis, previously known for his role in Harry Potter, takes on the character of Peylak, a captivating leader of the Wind Traders (Tlalim Clan). This distinctive Na’vi tribe has honed the skill of traversing Pandora’s terrain using enormous jellyfish-like creatures, adding a novel twist to the franchise’s already dazzling collection of aerial scenes. Previous films showcased the Na’vi flying through vibrant skies on their loyal ikran steeds and swimming in luminous oceans, but this new tribe promises an entirely different kind of aerial display that could transform our perspective on transportation within James Cameron’s ever-evolving alien world.
In the recently unveiled character design, Peylak stands out with an impressive wardrobe, particularly his vibrant sunset-hued cloak which underwent extensive alterations during production. As costume designer Deborah L. Scott shares with Empire, the original cloak was more rugged and rustic; however, director Cameron demanded a more majestic look for the clan. This transformation leads to a visually stunning spectacle that is expected to infuse fresh vitality into the ever-expanding universe of Pandora.

Scott stated that they are cheerful, joyful, and vibrant,” he explained further, noting that “when they join our film, there’s an air of excitement among us all. It feels as if a circus has just arrived.
In the Harry Potter series, Thewlis is famed for his portrayal of Remus Lupin. It’s said that he adds a unique style to the character, with Scott complimenting his “impressive posture” and stating that he’s “simply breathtaking on screen.” Besides Thewlis, other fresh faces are joining the franchise. Michelle Yeoh and Oona Chaplin are among them. Yeoh will play Dr. Karina Mogue, a human scientist, while the returning cast consists of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, and Sigourney Weaver.
In the upcoming movie, Wind Traders serves as another exciting extension to Pandora’s diverse habitat, building on the underwater exploration depicted in “The Way of Water.” This third film, currently 95% completed together with “The Way of Water,” offers a glimpse into unseen biomes and Na’vi tribes while continuing to break new ground in technology.
Cameron’s method of shooting several sequels concurrently indicates a clear, assertive plan for the franchise ahead. With The Way of Water raking in over $2.3 billion at the box office, anticipation is running high for what’s to come next. This upcoming film is part of an impressive lineup, as Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 are tentatively set for release in 2026 and 2028 respectively.
Avatar: Fire & Ash opens theaters on December 19th.
