Avatar Dev Will Let You Turn Off PSSR as It Fixes Poor PS5 Pro Patch

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the rollercoaster ride of updates and fixes has become as much a part of gaming as the thrill of conquering digital worlds themselves. The recent revelation from Ubisoft about fixing the PS5 Pro patch for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is yet another twist in this ongoing saga.

Ubisoft announced via Twitter that they are working on a solution for the PS5 Pro patch in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which was rolled out last week. In the meantime, a temporary fix is scheduled for release this Thursday, 12th December 2024, including an option to disable the PSSR feature fully for PS5 Pro users. When deactivated, the console will return to using the same upscaling technology as the standard PS5.

The team is currently focusing on resolving the problems caused by the PlayStation 5 Pro update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. They plan to enhance the quality of the PS5 Pro Quality Mode (60FPS) using PSSR and will keep you updated as soon as they have more information to share.

Following the application of the hotfix, the PS5 Pro mode will remain accessible to owners of the upgraded console. Additionally, they will have the same Performance and Quality settings as the standard system, which were initially taken away in the PS5 Pro version upon the release of the update.

Initially, gamers appreciated the update for Avatar on the PS5 Pro. However, they soon discovered glitches causing a shimmer effect that degraded the PSSR feature’s game quality. Similar issues with shimmering flaws have been observed in other games like Silent Hill 2 on the PS5 Pro as well.
