Avatar The Last Airbender: Gordon Cormier Is Hyped for Avatar's Animated Movie

As a longtime fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming movie, “Aang: The Last Airbender,” set to release in 2026. While it’s bittersweet that we won’t see our beloved original cast on the big screen, I must admit that Eric Nam as Aang piques my curiosity. Having grown up with the series and now seeing a Korean-American singer taking on this iconic role, it feels like a full-circle moment for me, a second-generation Korean-American myself.

Although Netflix is currently producing two more seasons of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” to conclude Aang’s live-action story, fans can also anticipate seeing some impressive bending in the future. In 2026, Avatar Studios plans to release its much-awaited first film under the working title “Aang: The Last Airbender“. Our team at egmr.ru recently spoke with Gordon Cormier about this animated project and the upcoming plans for Avatar Studios

The upcoming “Avatar: The Last Airbender” film is set to be released in theaters on January 30th, 2026, after Paramount delayed it from its original release date of October 10th, 2025. Instead of the original cast reprising their roles for this cinematic outing, new voice actors will step into many of the key parts. Eric Nam, a Korean-American singer and K-Pop idol, has been chosen to play Aang. Joining him will be Jessica Batten as Katara, Roman Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dionne Quan as Toph. Additionally, Dave Bautista, a renowned actor, has been cast as the film’s antagonist

Avatar x Avatar: A Meeting of Worlds

This year at Dragon Con, I had a chat with Cormier about the upcoming animated film, and let me tell you, I’m absolutely pumped! The guy playing the new Aang, Eric Nam, is a talented musician, and he seems amazing. As soon as I heard it was happening, I couldn’t contain my excitement as a fan. I can hardly wait to watch it, and I’ve been counting down the days ever since!

Additionally, Cormier jokingly commented that if Netflix were to produce a live-action version of adult Aang’s storyline from the upcoming film, he would gladly reprise his role beyond seasons two and three. In his own words, “If I find myself in my late 40s and in need of employment, I suppose I will shave my head and affix an arrow to it.”
