As a gamer who grew up with a deep-rooted love for animated series, I can hardly contain my excitement as Avatar: The Last Airbender gears up for its second season. When the show resumes for its second season, Aang and his companions will encounter the most skilled earth bender in existence. The moment has arrived for Toph Beifong to enter the scene, and it’s been revealed that actress Miya Cech will breathe life into this character. And now, following her introduction to the world, Cech is finally speaking up about her major role.
The update, as you can see below, comes courtesy of the Netflix team. On the set of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cech recorded a video with co-star Gordon Cormier that shows the actress reacting to her casting reveal. The video is adorable as the 17-year-old star is blown away by the support of the show’s cast and fanbase. So when it came to addressing her role as Toph, Cech was quick to share her love of the original series.

Toph Joins Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2
Growing up, I spent countless hours watching that animated show. It’s been a lifelong passion of mine, and I’ve likely watched it completely at least ten times over. Toph was always my most cherished character, so when the casting call arrived, I pleaded with my team to secure an audition for me,” Cech expressed.
In their announcement about casting Cech for Toph on Avatar: The Last Airbender, the production team mentioned that the actress would familiarize herself with Toph by working closely with a consultant who is blind and part of the blindness community. This is to ensure an accurate portrayal of Toph’s blindness in the series.
To date, we haven’t received much information about when season two of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will premiere, but we do know that its main cast has grown with a significant addition. Toph, who plays a crucial role in Aang’s journey, is a character cherished by fans for decades. Her quick-witted humor and exceptional bending skills have gained her admirers from all corners of the globe.
Who Is Miya Cech?
If you’re not acquainted with Cech, that’s alright. She started her professional acting career in 2015 with a role on Hawaii Five-0. Since then, Cech has appeared as a guest star in shows like American Horror Story and American Housewife. On the big screen, she’s had lead roles in movies such as The Darkest Minds and Rim of the World. Now, she’s back on television with Avatar: The Last Airbender, so Cech will get to try her hand at earth bending.
With Cech now part of the team, it’s time for the production of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” season two. Filming resumes in Canada, and as shared by co-star Ian Ousley, Cech started early with a bending training camp. Netflix hasn’t specified when exactly “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will return for season two yet, but fans are keeping their fingers crossed for a late 2025 premiere. Since the first season debuted in February 2024 to generally favorable reviews, Netflix decided to greenlight another two seasons of the show. Therefore, Netflix is optimistic about its benders, so here’s hoping Cech can do justice to Toph and her extraordinary bending skills.
