Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Jennifer Hale Talks Series Resurgence, Possible Kyoshi Return (Exclusive)

Aang and Korra were two characters who assumed the role of Avatar, going to extraordinary measures to safeguard their friends and the world in general. In the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra”, both main characters drew on the wisdom of their past incarnations to tackle significant obstacles. Among the Avatars, Kyoshi, a former Earth bender, stood out for her uncompromising and efficient approach towards defeating adversaries. Lately, we at egmr.ru had an interesting conversation with Jennifer Hale, the voice actress for Kyoshi, regarding the franchise’s resurgence and the chance of her reprising her role.

Hale initiated the conversation about Paramount’s bender universe, expressing her delight over the franchise’s robust revival and the opportunity for a new generation to explore and enjoy it. She admired the character Kyoshi, as she would go to any lengths, which she found they had in common, for better or worse. She appreciated Kyoshi’s strength because it was portrayed during a time when such depictions were less prevalent, with women not typically occupying these roles. Nowadays, thankfully, this seems much more commonplace. At that moment, the representation of strong female characters like Kyoshi was just starting to emerge.

Kyoshi’s Return

Hale showed her eagerness to reprise her role as the fierce Avatar, even as she acknowledged being aware of the subsequent series delving into Kyoshi’s life. She said, “I can’t wait to get back into the role! I’d be more than ready, just give me the chance. Any involvement in that would bring me great pleasure! I’ve read the Kyoshi novels myself and have signed many copies that fans have given me. I adore the character.

Where Would Kyoshi Make a Comeback?

There’s been talk swirling on the internet about a possible full-length animated movie featuring Kyoshi in the future, potentially alongside Aang and his group from The Last Airbender, although Avatar Studios has yet to verify these claims. If the 2026 release indeed brings back Aang and his friends as grown-ups, it could pave the way for Hale to return since she’s previously consulted by the airbender. Interestingly, even though Kyoshi is supposedly dead, any Avatar has the power to communicate with their past selves if necessary. Another storyline hints at a possible reappearance of Kyoshi as well.

The new animated series titled “Avatar: Seven Havens” has been revealed by Paramount, featuring a fresh Avatar who emerges after Korra’s tenure. Although details about this new hero are scarce, it is known that they will be an Earth bender and their adventures unfold in a post-apocalyptic world due to a significant event. Given the Earth Kingdom origins of this Avatar, it seems plausible for Kyoshi to play a role in their life.
