Avengers: Doomsday cast confirmed as Marvel shares dramatic unveiling

Ever since the Avengers disbanded following their 2019 encounter in Endgame, it’s been quite a journey for them. However, they’re coming together once more to tackle a fresh danger in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, due in 2026.

The upcoming movie, set to be one piece of a two-part tale including 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, is ready to begin filming. In excitement for this production, Marvel has revealed the main cast through a live broadcast on their YouTube channel.

The live broadcast took us on a tour through a production studio, showing seats designated for the cast members, ranging from long-time Marvel Cinematic Universe stars such as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor since Phase 1, all the way to brand new characters yet to make their debut, like Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm.

Here’s the current lineup for the film: Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, Vanessa Kirby takes on Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie is Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan portrays Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright stars as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd dons the role of Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell steps into John Walker/US Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejia becomes Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach is cast as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Simu Liu joins as Shang-Chi. There are more characters yet to be announced.

You can watch the (rather long) announcement video right here.

In the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” Robert Downey Jr will rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe by portraying a different character – the antagonist Dr. Doom, instead of his well-known role as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man.

The Russo Brothers, known for their work on four Marvel Cinematic Universe movies – Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame – will be in charge of this production.

Anthony Russo expressed his eagerness to return as they’ve had some time off, stating that they are eager to reconnect with the storyline they previously developed and explore fresh ways to advance it given all the events that have unfolded since then.

We’ve encountered quite a hurdle, yet we believe we’ve discovered a solution that seems promising enough for us to want to continue the narrative. Unfortunately, we can’t share many specifics, but let’s just say we’re brimming with enthusiasm!

If you enjoyed our past projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I believe there’s plenty to look forward to with our upcoming work.
