Despite the belief that Downey’s Marvel Cinematic Universe days had ended following Avengers: Endgame, the actor expressed an unexpected openness to a possible return as recent as June.
1. “It feels incredibly natural for me to play this character, almost as if it’s part of who I am deep down, despite the fact that he seems much cooler than I do. A month ago, in a Variety video, I admitted that I’ve become more open-minded about the role. It’s hard to believe, but we actually look quite similar on screen. I couldn’t help but double-check the pictures we were taking, making sure: ‘Are we still looking alright?’ And guess what? We really do!” (Downey)
In a different conversation, Downey shared that he would never wager against Marvel Studios leader, Kevin Feige, and his unwavering commitment to the franchise he manages. “I often say: Never place a bet against Kevin Feige. Previously, it was revealed that the cast of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” – Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing – will make appearances in not only “Avengers: Doomsday“, but also “Avengers: Secret Wars”.
