Avengers: Doomsday Filming Details Include a Location Important to One Hero’s Past

In spite of encountering opposition during Phases 4 and 5, Marvel Studios continues to effectively generate excitement for Avengers: Doomsday. The primary attraction lies in the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, not as his initial character, Tony Stark. Instead, he will breathe life into Victor von Doom and give the heroes a run for their money with his villainous portrayal. Nevertheless, with most of the original Avengers absent, Doom won’t have an easy ride. The Fantastic Four are set to enter the battlefield, and they will be accompanied by Sam Wilson and his allies. Initially, these groups will need to take a step back as a new team takes center stage in the storyline.

2025’s Thunderbolts finale unveils that the main squadron has transformed into “the New Avengers.” Valentina Allegra de Fontaine orchestrates this change to protect herself, and the anti-heroes swiftly adapt to their new roles. For over a year, they have assumed the mantle of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes before the Thunderbolts post-credits scene, hinting at the arrival of the Fantastic Four’s spaceship in the atmosphere. The sequel, Doomsday, is poised to continue immediately afterward, yet details about the movie’s shooting location suggest that the challenges for the New Avengers are only going to escalate further.

BBC News has obtained Marvel’s construction plans for a building outside Bracknell Forest, England, which is not unusual for a production as extensive as ‘Doomsday’. What sets these plans apart, however, is that they have given the structure a name – “Annie Reynolds’ House”. Interestingly, there are no significant characters in the ‘Doomsday’ cast with the first name Annie. However, it’s intriguing to note that Reynolds is also the surname of one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most powerful characters, Sentry.

The Void May Return to the MCU Sooner Than Anticipated

The rapid acceptance of the New Avengers stems from their heroic act of saving New York City from the destructive influence of Bob Reynolds’ villainous alter-ego, the Void. After disobeying Valentina, Bob becomes her target, but his defiance results in an unfortunate turn of events – her attack unwittingly unleashes the Void. The ominous entity starts consuming everything it encounters, and Yelena Belova feels compelled to intervene as she witnesses its rampage. In a desperate attempt to halt the Void’s advance, Yelena sacrifices herself and discovers that the dark force makes its victims relive their most painful memories. Upon entering the Void, Yelena locates Bob in his childhood home, where he endures physical abuse from his father, Bob Senior, and his mother, Annie. This unresolved trauma has long plagued Bob, but with the assistance of his newfound allies, he manages to expel the Void and embarks on a path towards healing.

To prevent another escape from the Void, Bob decides to step down as Sentry and stay at Avengers Tower while his comrades protect the Earth. He appears content with this arrangement, but if his old home reappears in Doomsday, it might indicate something is amiss. The best-case scenario involves Bob having a much-needed talk with his mother. However, given that Doom likely won’t allow powerful individuals like Sentry to move freely, there’s a possibility that he recognizes Bob’s potential and attempts to control him, trapping his adversaries in the Void once more. In any event, Bob returning home isn’t a good sign because it’s difficult to put that genie back in the bottle.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
