As a long-time Marvel fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Disney had finally acquired the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters. For years, we’ve seen the Avengers and X-Men interact in the comics, but on the big screen, their stories have been fragmented due to the complicated ownership situation. But now, with Marvel Studios having control of the entire roster, the possibilities are endless!
I remember not so long ago, Marvel’s movie rights were in a chaotic state. Disney held the reins for some heroes while Fox controlled others, and Sony had Spider-Man all to themselves. But now, Disney has taken over Fox, bringing the X-Men and Fantastic Four back under Marvel’s umbrella. This acquisition could potentially pave the way for a live-action adaptation of “Avengers vs. X-Men,” as suggested by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.
“Feige expressed his disappointment during interviews with ComicBook over not being able to utilize all the characters in films like ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ Previously, we had to exclude numerous characters from these stories due to lack of access. However, as we plan future narratives, we no longer face this restriction and can include any character we desire.”
Online buzz has been building up that the upcoming Marvel movie, originally titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and now referred to as “Avengers 5“, might shift its focus to a battle between the Avengers and X-Men since it seems Kang is no longer slated for the MCU’s future.
What’s Deadpool & Wolverine about?
In the Marvel Studios production titled “Deadpool & Wolverine, ” Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, and Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, are set to alter the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history. Joining them are Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova. Notable returning cast members include Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlyle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Additionally, Aaron Stanford reprises his role as Pyro from the X-Men series, with rumors of Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra Natchios.
Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner are the producers for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick serving as executive producers. The script for this film is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on July 26th.
