As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I am thrilled about the impending release of Avowed in 2025. The accessibility features that Obsidian Entertainment has announced are a testament to their understanding of the diverse gaming community.
In plain language: “Avowed”, Microsoft’s first significant first-party release of 2025, is getting closer as it’s due out soon. To prepare players, the game’s developer, Obsidian Entertainment, has shared details about their accessibility features in a post on Xbox Wire.
As a die-hard fan eagerly awaiting the release of Obsidian’s upcoming project, I’m thrilled about the tidbits they’ve shared so far! While they haven’t gone into specifics about every feature just yet (more details will likely emerge closer to launch), they’ve hinted at some key elements. Expect options for Field of View (FoV), the ability to turn off camera shake, customization of subtitles and UI text, fully remappable controls, and much more!
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that just like we mentioned earlier, the game “Avowed” will offer a third-person camera perspective for players who prefer this mode of play.
Alongside the game’s announcement, the developers have disclosed the minimum PC specifications needed for play. Moreover, they’ve introduced a Premium Edition which offers benefits like early access for up to five days (along with additional perks).
Avowed launches on February 18 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Avowed accessibility features:
- UI & Camera: Customize field of view, disable camera shake, toggle head bobbing, adjust camera sway.
- Text & Subtitles: Adjust UI text size, subtitle text size, and subtitle background opacity for optimal readability.
- Controls: Fully remappable controls with adjustable sensitivity for all analog inputs, enhancing gameplay comfort.
- Languages: While all voice acting will be in English, at launch Avowed will be localized in 12 languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
