Avowed Details Abilities, Progression, and More in New Extended Gameplay Showing

As a seasoned RPG enthusiast with countless hours spent traversing mystical lands and battling fantastical foes, I can hardly contain my excitement for Avowed! The tantalizing glimpse into its gameplay during Microsoft’s Gamescom livestream has only served to stoke the embers of anticipation burning within me.

So far, we’ve had a lot of glimpses of “Avowed” already, and as we edge towards its release in February, Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment are still providing us with sneak peeks of the action RPG. During Microsoft’s ongoing day 3 Gamescom live stream, they unveiled another segment of the game, featuring a complete quest within one of its earlier dungeons.

In the gameplay demo, a number of fundamental aspects and features of Avowed are highlighted, including character development and creation. Players will have the opportunity to put points into five distinct backstory elements, which can prove useful in various conversations under appropriate circumstances, assuming they’ve invested sufficiently in their backstory.

In terms of advancement, as you rise through the levels, you’ll gain the opportunity to pour points into various skills, distributed among five distinct skill sets: Ranger, Fighter, Mage, Divine, and Ally. Each set offers unique specializations.

During chats with other players, you’ll have the option to view a conversation log at any moment by pressing a designated button. This action will also display a lore guide on your screen, functioning somewhat like the Active Time Lore system in Final Fantasy 16.

The game includes parkour-style movements and level designs that prioritize verticality, as well as puzzles to solve. It also features combat scenes involving various enemy types, such as a skeleton mini-boss and a final boss fight. Additionally, it offers different abilities, weapons, loot, and choices with consequences.

The title “Avowed” is scheduled to debut on February 11 of the following year, available on both Xbox Series X/S and PC. To explore its unique features designed specifically for PCs, take a look at the latest trailer right over here.
