In an interview with MinnMax, Carrie Patel, the director of the upcoming action RPG “Avowed”, has disclosed that the game’s enemies won’t adjust their power level based on the player’s progression. Essentially, this implies that regardless of how powerful or weak your character is, the enemies will maintain a consistent strength. Initially, some enemies might seem overpowering, but as players level up and obtain superior gear, they’ll become capable of defeating those same foes.
In a fast-paced question-and-answer session, MinnMax’s Ben Hanson inquired if enemies would adjust to the player’s level. Patel clarified that “Enemies do not adapt to your character level” as they discussed other topics such as the key art for Avowed and any misunderstandings about the game.
In contrast to many other popular RPG launches, this game deviates by not adjusting enemy strength based on the player’s own power progression. This approach is aimed at preventing players from feeling disheartened due to challenging early enemies or becoming bored by easily overpowering them with a high-level character, which is common in games like Diablo 4 and Bethesda’s RPG series that heavily utilize level scaling.
During the same conversation, Patel shared that approximately one-third of the team responsible for creating the RPG series, Pillars of Eternity, has contributed to the development of Avowed in some capacity. Additionally, she hinted that the storyline in Avowed will reach a point of no return at some stage, meaning players won’t have access to additional side content beyond this juncture. Players eager to delve deeper into the game’s world will need to embark on a fresh playthrough once the credits finish rolling instead of being allowed to continue exploring.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that when it comes to the Xbox Series X, the upcoming game Avowed promises to run smoothly at an impressive 60 frames per second! Yet, at this moment, we’re still waiting for updates on how Avowed will perform on the Xbox Series S.
As a fellow PC gamer, I can’t wait for the release of Avowed! If you’re excited too, take a peek at the system requirements Obsidian shared back in November. For starters, you’ll need a mid-range CPU from around four generations ago – that means Intel and AMD CPUs from about 2016 or so. Graphics-wise, you’ll want an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or higher. And don’t forget to have at least 16 GB of RAM in your system. Happy gaming!
Berto Ritger, an environment region designer, previously disclosed in December that players would have the flexibility to decide on their approach to quests in a humorous manner. This could involve completing tasks out of sequence, or even finishing dungeons before receiving the quest related to them. Additionally, players will be tasked with uncovering the choices and secrets necessary to unlock several endings, with at least ten different endings having been verified so far.
Avowed is planned to debut on PC and Xbox Series X/S on February 18th. It will also be accessible through Game Pass from the very start. Further specifics about this title will emerge once reviews are published on February 13th. Until then, here’s a glimpse into why players who enjoy games with decisions that matter should stay tuned for Avowed.
