At its launch, Obsidian Entertainment’s role-playing game Avowed will include DLSS 4 features, as confirmed by NVIDIA on Thursday. This means players can enjoy Multi Frame Generation and other DLSS benefits from the very start of the game during its early access phase. Similarly, Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Ubisoft, now supports DLSS 4 too, thanks to a recent update that activates this feature set for Ubisoft and Massive’s Star Wars adventure.
Indicating that another exclusive Xbox game developed by Bethesda Softworks, titled “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” by MachineGames, is set to enhance its performance with DLSS 4 support. This upgrade will arrive as part of the third major update for the game, which is due next week, along with several bug fixes addressing issues reported by players since its release in December 2024.
Multi Frame Generation is exclusive to the new 50-series GPUs
On NVIDIA’s entire range of ray-tracing equipped graphics cards, DLSS 4 is accessible. However, Multi-Frame Generation is exclusive to the latest 50-series cards. The supply of the 5080 and 5090 models has been scarce, limiting the number of gamers who can utilize this advanced technology immediately.
Luckily, this particular feature caters primarily to gamers seeking extreme performance, aiming for high framerates such as 240 FPS, with all game settings maximized, including advanced ray tracing effects like Indiana Jones’ path tracing option. However, if you’re satisfied with playing games like Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at 120 FPS, standard frame generation should meet your requirements just fine.
If you’re yet to experience MachineGames’ recent release, take a look at my review of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. In it, I extol its virtues as an engaging adventure with intricate simulation aspects, further stating that it stands tall alongside the original trilogy.
In the meantime, Avowed is nearly upon us, starting with early access for the Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade today. As my colleague Zachary Boddy points out in his review, “Avowed offers a diverse combat system, stunning visuals, and an engaging story, making it one of the most enjoyable RPGs I’ve played in quite some time.
The upcoming standard version of Avowed is scheduled to debut on February 18, 2025, simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Notably, it will be accessible on day one through both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, which are our first-party game offerings.
