Avowed Will Allow Players to Start “Almost Every Quest” in Multiple Ways

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of role-playing under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I hear about games like Avowed, especially when it comes to player agency and choice mechanics. Having been through countless epic journeys where every decision felt like a fork in the road, shaping not just the narrative but the very world around me, Obsidian Entertainment’s commitment to these elements is music to my ears.

In every role-playing game created by Obsidian Entertainment, player autonomy, decision-making, and cause-and-effect dynamics have played crucial roles. They’ve made it clear that these essential elements will also be present in their upcoming title, Avowed.

In an interview with GamesRadar, environment region designer Berto Ritger shared that most quests in the game Avowed can initiate through various paths, contingent upon the decisions players make and their preferred strategies when confronting specific scenarios.

He mentioned that most, if not all, quests in the game can be initiated in multiple ways. It’s possible to complete tasks out of sequence and gather items to give to characters who need them, or eliminate a character, among other possibilities. Essentially, you can play the game non-linearly. You might approach a dungeon from an unconventional direction, or vice versa. The developers aim to allow this kind of flexibility in gameplay, depending on how you organically move through the game world.

The extent to which quests may differ due to choices is yet uncertain, but for enthusiasts of this genre, it’s undoubtedly reassuring to learn about increased player autonomy in the game design. This is a characteristic that Obsidian has always excelled at, and fans of their previous works will be delighted to see them further refining this strength with their upcoming project.

The game titled “Avowed” will be released on February 18, available for both Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. To learn about its minimum system requirements, you can find them by clicking the link provided.
