As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a penchant for biopics and racing dramas, I have eagerly awaited the Netflix series delving into the life of Ayrton Senna. Having had the opportunity to watch the first few episodes, I must say that Gabriel Leone’s portrayal of the iconic racer is nothing short of remarkable.
Ayrton Senna continues to be a revered figure among Formula 1 enthusiasts globally, and this is particularly true in his home country of Brazil, three decades since his passing.
In the new Netflix series that portrays his life, one of the tasks for main actor Gabriel Leone was to capture the spirit of the McLaren legend. Luckily for him, he received assistance from the Senna family in this endeavor.
He mentioned that he had interacted with them, particularly his sister and nephew who manage his institution. They were incredibly helpful and very considerate towards him.
One point from our chat left a strong impression on me – they mentioned Senna’s eyes, spirit, and kindness.
Absolutely, we’re familiar with the driver, his demeanor is both assertive and enthusiastic. However, I was also informed about a different aspect of him, a more compassionate and humane side to his personality.
Leone continued by explaining that even though it was crucial for him to look like Senna, he needed to portray what lay deep within.
He noted that understanding his true nature and portraying different aspects of him during the performance was vital. This aspect was indeed key for him.
Leone also echoed the family’s comment about Senna’s eyes.
Whenever I watched his videos and interviews, I tried not just to mimic his actions and speech, but also to grasp his underlying thoughts and emotions, he explained.
