As a connoisseur of the small screen, I must say, this year’s Emmys have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The winners, especially, have left me quite impressed. Take Ebon Moss-Bachrach for instance, his performance in “The Bear” was simply extraordinary. A man with such a rich background in theater, it seems he’s finally found the perfect vehicle to showcase his immense talent on television.
This news comes with a bang bang.
As a devoted admirer, I was thrilled to learn during Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau‘s 2024 Emmy speech that a notable celebrity is secretly captivated by the Netflix drama we all love.
According to Nava, Ariana Grande is known to be a big fan, as he shared with Keltie Knight from TopMob News backstage at the Peacock Theater on September 15th. Personally, I am also a massive fan of hers and that was really meaningful for me.
Apart from the Wicked star, there are many others who appreciate the limited series, inspired by creator and actor Richard Gadd’s encounters with a real-life stalker. For instance, during the recent award ceremony on September 15th, the show garnered an impressive six awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor and Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series, as well as awards for the series itself (Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series) and its exceptional writing (Outstanding Writing for an Anthology Series or Movie).
It was a moment Richard could only have dreamt up in his wildest daydreams.
He confided in Keltie that he was feeling quite emotional. “To be honest,” he continued, “I never imagined that I’d find myself on the stage at the Emmys. And to make things even more surprising, I never thought I’d be the one accepting a nomination, let alone winning.
He went on to say, ‘Things have been absolutely wild, and I’m incredibly proud of everyone!’ It’s not just about me, but the incredible cast, the fantastic crew, and all those involved. I’m elated, overwhelmed, and at a loss for words. Tonight is the best night of my life.
Although Nava didn’t take home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress, which instead went to her costar Jessica Gunning, she felt victorious simply by being nominated as the first transgender actress in that category.
During a heartfelt conversation with Laverne Cox on Live from TopMob, Nava expressed that our shared goal as a community is to share stories that originate from within us genuinely and are grounded in the essence of humanity. This is because, fundamentally, we as trans individuals identify primarily as human beings.
The 32-year-old went on to say, “What I find most noteworthy about ‘Baby Reindeer’ is that it’s an excellent show, which happens to have an LGBT theme and a trans character. It’s a production I take great pride in.
