10 years on, Kaitlyn Bristowe reflects back on the intense emotional and physical strain that came with being The Bachelorette.
39-year-old opens up about lingering effects of work-related stress from ABC dating show’s 11th season (aired in 2015), detailing its impact on her health long after production wrapped up.
On her podcast Off the Vine on May 9th, Kaitlyn mentioned that for several months after a show she didn’t have a period and experienced significant hair loss, which included large bald patches, not just single hairs but actual chunks of hair due to stress.
Her lack of adequate sleep during the show’s filming was not beneficial, as she herself confessed to usually only getting a maximum of four hours each night.
Speaking about her previous struggles with stress-related hair loss, Kaitlyn opened up about the challenges she encounters while being the leading star on ‘The Bachelorette’.
In my experience, I’ve found that there’s always someone who may feel let down or displeased, whether it’s an audience member, a colleague, a superior, or even a loved one. It seems inevitable that we’ll be falling short of expectations at some point or another.
Regardless of the challenges that arose following her participation in The Bachelorette, the reality television personality found instances where she felt a sense of accomplishment. This was particularly true when she concluded the show engaged to Shawn Booth, a relationship that ended in 2018.
She mentioned that there have been instances when she felt particularly proud of her ability to express herself at the age of 29. She was also proud of herself for feeling deeply remorseful about causing harm to others.
Initially, Kaitlyn admitted that when she started filming the series, her greatest concern was that she might not find love during the show. She recalled thinking, “Oh my goodness, that was my main worry going in. ‘What if I put all this effort into it and don’t end up finding someone?'” This was before she became engaged to Jason Tartick and was rumored to be with Zac Clark.
Regarding how she reflects on that period, Kaitlyn offered her younger self some guidance by saying, “I would simply advise you: ‘Remember, the producers are doing their job. You also have responsibilities, but hold onto your beliefs a bit stronger. And try not to drink as much.’
Look back at Bachelor Nation couples and find out who’s still together and who broke up.
Status: Engaged
On his first night at the Bachelor mansion, Grant Ellis might have encountered 25 prospective romantic partners, but it was Juliana Pasquarosa who ultimately received his final rose. As they plan their upcoming wedding, the soon-to-be bride shared her most important wish for their special day.
In a conversation with TopMob News in March 2025, she emphasized that the essence doesn’t change, regardless of where or what it is – as long as it’s filled with love and everyone in our family is present. She also shared her belief that we’ll always have a wonderful time, no matter the activity we engage in.
Status: Engaged
After starring on the inaugural season of “The Golden Bachelor” and leaving Gerry Turner’s season prematurely, Joan Vassos later took on the role of the Bachelorette for the show’s debut season. It was during this time that she encountered and became engaged to contestant Chock Chapple.
In the November 2024 finale of “The Golden Bachelorette,” Joan shared her heartfelt sentiments, stating, “We are living proof that no matter what life may throw at us, there is always hope, even at our age.” As the episode concluded, Chock seized the moment in a stunning Bora Bora locale to express his love, saying, “I waited ’til this special moment in this breathtaking location to tell you that I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I look forward to waking up next to you every morning and kissing you goodnight.
Status: Split
In the season finale of “The Bachelorette” (season 21), it seemed like former “Bachelor” contestant Jenn Tran was on her way to a happy ending with her final choice, Devin Strader. However, in an interview after the final rose ceremony in September, Jenn, who is 26 years old, disclosed that Devin, who is 28, abruptly ended their relationship as soon as the cameras stopped recording.
During a conversation with host Jesse Palmer on September 3rd, Jenn expressed, “He’d been expressing grand declarations of affection one moment, only for them to vanish completely the next day. He even denied having ever felt love towards me. All the vows and affection he’d pledged to me seemed to disappear.
As an ardent admirer, I couldn’t help but be captivated as Devin unfolded the narrative of our shared tale on Instagram. In his heartfelt 13-minute video, he took responsibility for his actions and delved deeper into the reasons that led him to terminate our connection during a lengthy, 15-minute phone conversation.
Instead of asserting that he ended their relationship over the phone in August, he maintained that Jenn inquired about his issues and sought for him to disclose it in person before he could, which ultimately led to the conversation on the phone.
He admitted that he was unsure about any other options, adding that he had planned to share the news with her face-to-face first. Essentially, she made him take action sooner than he intended.
Ever since then, Jenn has made her way towards “Dancing with the Stars” and perhaps into the affections of her dance partner Sasha Farber. They’ve been fueling romance speculations since their dismissal on October 29th.
Status: Split
In November 2022, Greg Grippo – one of Katie Thurston’s suitors from The Bachelorette the previous year – appeared alongside Victoria Fuller on the finale of Bachelor in Paradise season eight. During their time there, they declared that they were an item. However, in April 2024, he disclosed that their relationship had ended.
Prior to Victoria Fuller and Greg Grippo’s relationship became public during the finale of Bachelor in Paradise’s eighth season, Victoria Fuller had already broken off her engagement with her fellow cast member, Johnny DePhillipo.
Status: Divorced
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist got engaged in November 2023 during the final episode of the first season of “Golden Bachelor,” and they officially married during a televised wedding ceremony in January 2024.
However, three months after their nuptials, the couple announced that they were breaking up.
During their interview on Good Morning America with Theresa in April 2024, Gerry stated, “Theresa and I have had many meaningful talks and thoroughly examined our circumstances, including our living arrangements. We’ve arrived at the shared decision that it might be best for us to end our marriage.
They reached a divorce settlement in June 2024, according to court records reviewed by TopMob News.
Back in April 2025, Gerry shared on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast that he had started seeing someone new, and things were progressing positively for him.
Status: Betrothed
After wooing 32 potential partners, tennis player Joey Graziadei finally found his ideal partner in project manager Kelsey Anderson. Overwhelmed with excitement, he couldn’t wait another second to express his love during the finale of March 2024. “There’s something about you that I can’t ignore,” he told his chosen one, dropping to one knee as he proposed. “You have an energy that makes me happy. It’s a sensation I’ve never felt before.”
Picture him by your side for eternity, he added, “I’ve always dreamed of having a wonderful life, but I didn’t realize just how extraordinary it could be until I met you.
The underwater welder John Henry Spurlock and nurse Kat Izzo, who crossed paths halfway through season nine of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’, decided to take a leap of faith. John expressed his feelings by presenting an Ascher cut Neil Lane diamond, stating, “I’m going to try something different today. My heart tells me that you are amazing, you are everything I’ve been searching for.” However, a few days after the season finale, they announced their decision to part ways due to their career goals not being compatible. They expressed their gratitude towards their families, friends, and ‘Bachelor Nation’ for their love and support in a joint Instagram post.
Despite her apprehensions about a proposal in Paradise, elegantly attired Eliza Isichei (formerly Clayton Echard’s partner), beamed as Aaron Bryant proposed at an oceanfront location. Delighted by his thoughtfulness in consulting her mother for approval, she expressed, “I couldn’t predict what words would leave my lips.”
The closing scene of the finale hinted at some difficulties faced by Eliza and her ex, marketing manager Charity, following their return from Mexico. A few days later, they announced their engagement had ended.
“It’s a bit complicated watching it all play out,” he penned on Instagram in December 2023. “We’re handling our amicable separation with nothing but optimism and respect for each other.
Status: Separated
Despite postpartum nurse Kylee Russell expressing disappointment over boyfriend Aven Jones’ reluctance to propose – a gesture he apparently planned during his time on ‘The Bachelorette’ with Rachel Recchia – she eventually agreed to Aven’s proposal on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’, opting to leave their issues behind and try to make the relationship work.
Since this meant her engagement dress remained untouched, she explained, “I simply had to do what felt right. Love involves taking risks.”
Two days after their finale aired in December 2023, she revealed on Instagram Stories that their relationship had ended due to multiple instances of infidelity. Later, Aven apologized to Kylee, acknowledging his mistakes and the pain he caused her by writing, “I have made significant errors in our relationship and hurt someone very dear to me.
Charity Lawson playfully shared her delight with TopMob News about the upcoming season, a sentiment that doesn’t quite capture her excitement for the August 2023 finale. In an emotional moment, integrative medicine specialist Dotun Olubeko declared their love to be “perfect,” asking Charity, a child and family therapist, to make their fairy tale a reality by marrying him.
Although their wedding date is yet to be decided (between 2025 or 2026), Charity will first step onto the Dancing With the Stars ballroom floor. During The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose, Dotun enthusiastically told Charity, “I know you love to dance and have fun. We’ve talked about this amazing opportunity, and I am thrilled to announce that you will be competing on Dancing With the Stars! Let’s do this!
Status: Set to Marry
Zach Shallcross will have his fairytale ending. Although there were a few bumps along the way during Fantasy Suite nights, Zach Shallcross concluded season 27 in March 2023 on bended knee. He declared his deep affection for travel nurse Kaity Biggar, saying, “I am so in love with you. You are my world. The love I feel for you is something I could have never imagined.”
In July 2023, the Texas couple took their relationship to a new level, announcing on Instagram that they were now living together as roommates. They’re currently working on setting their wedding date for October 2025.
The current situation: They broke up
In simpler terms, even though Danielle Maltby and Michael Allio, who were both on different seasons of Bachelor Nation, appeared to be headed for a romantic partnership after their relationship began off-screen, they have since parted ways. This separation happened over a year ago when Maltby moved from Nashville to Ohio to be with Allio. In an episode of Jason Tartick’s podcast “Trading Secrets” in September 2023, Allio confirmed the split. He expressed his disappointment, stating, “We both invested a lot into this relationship, and it’s heartbreaking when things don’t work out. When you realize that there is love, but we’re not compatible, you grieve not only the loss of that person and friendship in your life, but also the future you had imagined together.
Brandon Jones declared his eternal affection for Serene Russell during season seven of ‘Paradise’, stating, “I’ll love you till the end of time, my last breath, and I want to spend forever with you.” Regrettably, their story didn’t have a happy ending. Just five months after their engagement aired on TV, Brandon (a finalist from Michelle Young’s season) and Serene (who had relationships with Clayton Echard) announced their separation in a joint statement on Instagram in May 2023. “Our relationship has been incredibly difficult to navigate in the public eye,” they wrote, expressing that it has been extremely painful for them. They requested understanding and asked for no negativity as there is still a great deal of love between them.
The relationship between pilot Rachel and general contractor Tino Franco encountered difficulties when he kissed another woman during their 2022 season broadcast. On “The Viall Files,” he expressed, “I in no way condone my actions. It was wrong, unfair to Rachel, and it continues to haunt me every day. I am ashamed of what I did and if I could do it over a million times, I would.
The status appears to indicate that Susie Evans and Clayton Echard, who were initially at odds during the 2022 finale of a reality show, reconnected off-camera only to part ways again six months later. However, Susie, a videographer based in L.A., maintains their breakup was necessary as she felt her radiance had diminished and she wasn’t living her best life. In a November 2022 blog post titled “Susie Was Like,” she explained that while they shared many happy moments, deep down she was battling internal struggles and feeling out of sync with her true self.
After dating Justin Glaze, a contestant from Bachelor Nation, Susie later revealed that their relationship ended in August 2024.
In a nutshell: Michelle, a Minnesota elementary school teacher, received a Neil Lane sparkler from Texas businessman Nayte Olukoya, along with a $200,000 check for their future home, during their stint on a reality show in late 2021. However, the couple’s relationship didn’t last, and they parted ways six months after the season finale.
On The Viall Files podcast, Nayte admitted to some turbulence in the relationship, including disagreements, arguments, and a lack of compatibility. He also regretted not having the final conversation about their breakup in person, calling it “a dick move.”
Later, Michelle began dating Jack Leius in 2023, and they announced their engagement the year after.
The duo from BIP season seven, Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian, shared a dream of leisurely weekend mornings with viewers. However, their time together was limited, as they revealed in a joint statement issued in January 2022. They announced that they have chosen to pursue separate paths for personal growth. This development was not something either of them anticipated earlier.
Status: Split
The first same-sex pair from Bachelor Nation announced their separation in October 2019, having gotten engaged during the sixth season of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’.
In their shared declaration on Instagram, they expressed that love and concern for each other have always been the cornerstone of their relationship. Their main focus has been to make decisions beneficial for both of them. With hearts heavy with affection, they’ve concluded that it’s best for them to retreat from their relationship temporarily. Their ultimate goal is to achieve what’s best for them in the long term, and at this moment, that means growing independently.
As an over-the-moon fan, I can’t help but share the news that, despite parting ways in Mexico during Bachelor in Paradise’s seventh season, Noah Erb and Abigail Heringer have found their way back to each other. Though their journey has had its twists and turns, they’ve both acknowledged that they could get lost in each other’s eyes forever.
Initially setting up shop in San Diego, the travel nurse (remember her from Tayshia’s season?) and the financial manager (he was the lucky one who received Matt James’ first impression rose) have now taken their relationship to a whole new level by purchasing a home in his hometown of Tulsa.
In July 2023, Abigail excitedly shared on Instagram, “About to enter our Chip and Joanna Gaines era because your girl just bought her very first house!!!” She continued with, “Excited to start our next chapter and for all the memories we’ll create here!!” With wedding bells not too far away, they’re preparing for their move. Noah made it official by popping the question at a beachfront San Diego home in August 2023.
Here’s to watching these two lovebirds build their dreams and create beautiful memories together!
In preparation for their upcoming wedding in September 2023, Serena Pitt (a finalist on Matt James’ season) and Joe Amabile (the Chicago grocery store owner known from Becca Kufrin sending him home on the first night in 2018) decided to have an early trial run by getting married at City Hall near their New York City residence, approximately one year after leaving Paradise as engaged couples. Serena, who now co-hosts the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with her spouse, excitedly shared a video from their October 2022 ceremony, captioning it “JUST MARRIED !!” adding “We are still having a big wedding in September, but who wouldn’t want to get married twice?
Kenny Braasch, well-known boy band manager, declared his deep affection for Mari Pepin as he placed a Neil Lane diamond ring on her finger during the finale of Paradise in 2021. “Mari,” he said, “I am absolutely smitten by you, and I can’t even imagine my life without you.” Following their elimination by Tayshia Adams in week five, they moved forward with their relationship. Before their oceanfront wedding in Puerto Rico in November 2023, Mari, a former Maryland beauty queen who initially captured Bachelor Matt’s heart, relocated to Kenny’s hometown, Chicago. Prior to their nuptials, they made their love everlasting by getting matching tattoos during a trip to the Bahamas in May 2023.
Status: Married
Becca Kufrin, who was once the Bachelorette, and Thomas Jacobs, one of Katie Thurston’s suitors, found each other during season seven of “Bachelor in Paradise” in 2021. They split up on the show but rekindled their relationship after filming ended. In May 2022, they revealed that they were engaged, with Becca being the one to pop the question. As she shared with TopMob News, “I hope this encourages others to feel empowered and break traditional rules.” In October of the same year, Thomas reciprocated her gesture. In September 2023, they welcomed their first child, a son named Benson. On Instagram, Becca expressed, “There are no words enough to describe the love and admiration we have for this little man.” Just weeks after welcoming Benson, the couple decided to tie the knot in an impromptu ceremony on October 13, 2023.
Status: Split
In the thrilling finale of “The Bachelorette” season 17 back in 2021, I was absolutely ecstatic when Katie accepted Blake Moynes’ proposal! Their heartfelt moment unfolded during their extraordinary overnight date, complete with a paintball adventure, a cozy cowboy tub, and an enchanting conversation under the starlit sky.
Kneeling down, Blake expressed to Katie, “You’re worth the whole world, and I’m eager to stand by your side and offer my support each day from now on.
Three months following the broadcast of their proposal, the pair disclosed their separation. In coordinated statements, they expressed, “We are deeply thankful for the moments we cherished and the incredible journey that unfolded over this past year. However, after careful consideration, we’ve realized that as life partners, we are not a suitable match. It is with the utmost kindness to each other that we decide to progress separately.”
She is now betrothed to comedian Jeff Arcuri.
Current Status: Separated
After their split during Matt’s 2021 season with graphic designer Rachael Kirkconnell, followed by a brief reconciliation, they have faced numerous breakup speculations.
“I believe everyone needs to take a break from social media,” Matt exclusively shared with TopMob News at a July 18 Baskin-Robbins event. “Our lives are so entwined with our phones that when someone stops being online 24/7, people think it’s the end of the world.”
However, Matt mentioned marriage as their ultimate goal.
“I think the good thing about our relationship is we move at our own pace,” the author of First Impressions: Off Screen Conversations With a Bachelor on Race, Family, and Forgiveness told TopMob News in May 2022. “And you’ve seen with other couples—they rush into engagement and they’re not together anymore. So, I think what we have is a successful formula and we’ll get there.”
Yet, less than three years later, Matt confirmed their separation on Instagram in January 2025, writing, “Father God, give Rachael and me strength to heal our broken hearts. Give us peace about this decision to end our relationship that surpasses worldly understanding. Show kindness and love to our friends and family to console us. And remind us that our joy comes from you, Lord.”
Status: Split
Following Clare Crawley’s 2020 season of The Bachelorette, Tayshia came across and developed feelings for Zac Clark. Although they left her season with an engagement, the previous Bachelorette who became a co-host subsequently disclosed that their relationship experienced some highs and lows.
In a new relationship, it can be challenging to leave for a couple of weeks, right? This is a genuine and truthful observation I made, she expressed on the August 2021 episode of The Ben and Ashley I. Almost Famous podcast.
Later on, she expressed, “It seemed as though we needed to recall our reasons for being together, and honestly, that’s quite natural.” However, it was reported by TopMob News in November 2021 that they had parted ways.
Status: Split
During season 16 of ‘The Bachelorette’, Clare became deeply smitten with Dale Moss. In fact, they got engaged by the fourth episode itself. However, things didn’t go as planned afterward. Weeks after Clare’s successor Tayshia had her own engagement, Dale announced on social media that his romance with the hairdresser had ended.
A month later, speculation about reconciliation swirled when these two were seen together again. By July 2021, after multiple get-togethers, Clare and Dale had fully reunited—with a ring on it. However, in September of the same year, they parted ways once more. Now, Clare is blissfully married to Ryan Dawkins, and they’re anticipating the arrival of their first child together.
Status: Split
Following a short-lived engagement to Hannah Ann Sluss and a subsequent breakup with Madison Prewett, viewers had high hopes for Peter’s third attempt at love. Unfortunately, his relationship with Kelley Flanagan from ‘The Bachelor’ season 24 did not work out as planned. On New Year’s Eve in 2020, the pilot announced that their nine-month romance had come to an end.
Pete shared on Instagram, “Though our bond held many cherished moments, unfortunately, it didn’t sustain in the long run. Yet, Kelly remains someone I hold a unique affection towards.
In 2022, the couple made another attempt at flying again, but they announced in May that their relationship had come to an end.
Status: Split
After the emotional 2020 finale, the pair shared on Instagram that they wouldn’t be continuing their romantic involvement. Peter expressed, “Madi and I have jointly decided not to progress our relationship any further. It was difficult for both of us to accept, but after open discussions, we agreed this is the best path for us. The affection and regard I have for Madi will persist.
In her statement, Madi expressed, “I’ll forever cherish and honor him. I firmly believe that our lives were destined to intertwine, and it undeniably improved us both.
Status: Split
During the 24th season of “The Bachelor,” Peter and Hannah Ann had a short-lived engagement. Regrettably, in the second part of the finale, it emerged that the duo were facing difficulties just a month into their committed relationship. More precisely, Hannah Ann was taken aback by Peter’s continued affection for Madison at the expense of their own bond.
She said, “All I’ve ever wanted is for someone to offer their complete affection as I am giving mine to them. And yet, you ended our first engagement.” She conveyed this before returning the ring, “You took that away from me. ‘Cause I relied on you, and that’s what you consistently asked of me: ‘Be patient with me. Have confidence in me.’
