Back from dead- Who’s returning for Scream 7?

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice that almost every character, old and new, in the Scream series has met a gruesome end, often at the hands of the masked slasher. Yet, with a fresh installment on the horizon, it seems some characters are coming back from beyond the grave. So, who will be reprising their roles for Scream 7?

For the first time, Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original “Scream” script, is set to direct “Scream 7,” scheduled for cinema release on February 27th, 2026. However, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who appeared in the initial films of the “Scream” reboot, will not be returning for this seventh installment. Barrera is absent due to her statements regarding the Palestine/Israel conflict, while Ortega is unavailable because she’s working on a new ‘Wednesday’ series.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that some beloved faces from the past will be gracing our screens once again in “Scream 7”. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown are among them, along with newcomers Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Joel McHale, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry.

But the most intriguing news is the return of our beloved Deputy Sheriff Dewey, who will miraculously come back from the dead! Yes, you heard it right! The character played by David Arquette in the first five films will be reprising his role for “Scream 7”.

However, Dewey won’t be the only one making a comeback. Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard are also set to return, which seems nothing short of extraordinary. It remains a mystery as to how this is possible, but kudos to Kevin Williamson for his original script that often subverted and satirized modern horror film tropes. I’m eagerly awaiting the clever twist he has in store for us with these seemingly deceased characters. The suspense is killing me – literally!
