Back to the Future’s Lea Thompson Didn’t Like Michael J. Fox at First

As a student of pop culture history, I find myself deeply intrigued by the fascinating tales of rivalries and feuds that have shaped our beloved entertainment industry. Each story is as unique as the individuals involved, but they all share one common thread: the human capacity for conflict and the resilience to overcome it.

Lea Thompson and Michael J. Fox‘s relationship started out a tad heavy.

In 1985, Lea Thompson and her real-life son Michael J. Fox portrayed Lorraine Baines and Marty McFly in the movie “Back to the Future”. However, Lea shared that their initial relationship wasn’t as smooth, as they didn’t instantly get along off-screen.

She clarified during the September episode of the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast that there was a noticeable snobbishness on her part due to the significant distinction between movie stars and television stars at the time. Fortunately, things have changed dramatically since then, and the divide isn’t as pronounced anymore.

However, during that period, it held significant importance for Lea, as she was only beginning to establish her reputation in cinema, and Michael was already gaining fame through his role on “Family Ties” television series.

She playfully remarked, “‘He’s merely a television personality, and I’m a cinema legend, having been part of ‘Jaws 3D.’ It took some time for me to become comfortable with him.’

Lea’s bond with Michael was influenced by the circumstance that he took over the role from actor Eric Stoltz in the movie, who she had recently collaborated with on 1984’s “The Wild Life.” Previously, Eric was set to play Marty, but after five weeks of filming, it was claimed that producers believed he wasn’t suited for the part.

But after Michael replaced him, Lea shared that they eventually found their groove on set.

As an overjoyed admirer, let me share my reminiscence: “He was just hilarious and a blast to work alongside,” I mused, reflecting on those times. You see, after sharing some moments on set with Eric, I found myself revisiting those scenes, this time with Michael. And oh, what a stark contrast it was!

Over the last 40 years, the swap of Michael for Eric in Hollywood legend has grown notably, with the extra filming, said to have cost an extra $4 million, being particularly memorable for the production of “Back to the Future.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share an interesting tidbit from behind the scenes of a popular movie. Initially, I, Michael J. Fox, was the producer’s first pick for the character Marty, but I couldn’t accept the offer due to my ongoing commitment to “Family Ties.” This revelation comes from the esteemed writer and producer, Bob Gale. However, when I eventually joined the cast, the filming schedule was thoughtfully adjusted to accommodate my availability.

Michael, now 63 years old, had a busy routine. During the day, he was filming Family Ties, and after 6:30 PM, he moved to the Back to the Future set, where he worked until 2:30 AM. He struggled to fit sleep into his schedule amidst these shoots.

In a 1985 TV special, he playfully commented that his ambition had always been to work in the film and television industry, yet he found himself involved in both at the same time. He described it as an unusual journey, simply saying, “I just happened to be along for the ride.

Although Lea and Michael managed to reconcile their relationship during filming (and subsequently appeared together in both 1989’s “Back to the Future Part II” and 1990’s “Back to the Future Part III”), continue reading to discover which celebrity feuds remain unresolved.

In January 2024, Bobby, who is shown here second from the left, spoke up to dispel speculations of a rift with Tan, who is seen in the middle, that emerged two months following his departure from Queer Eye, marking the end of its eighth season.

He assured Vanity Fair, “Tan and I are doing well, and we’ll continue to be okay.” He explained, “There was an issue that occurred, which is strictly between us two, and it doesn’t involve the show in any way. It was a personal matter that had been developing – just to make it clear, it wasn’t romantic; it was simply something private that needed resolution.

In March 2024, Tan addressed accusations that he was lobbying for Jeremiah Brent, a friend of his, to take over from Bobby on the show “Queer Eye”.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: “I shared that Netflix and the production teams conducted extensive auditions. Contrary to some speculations, I didn’t endorse my friend for the role. They landed the part because they were undeniably the most suitable candidate,” I clarified on Instagram. “However, I didn’t play a part in their hiring by eliminating someone else.

In a December 2023 episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” Holly Marie Combs, a former costar on “Charmed” with Shannen, claimed that Alyssa had given an ultimatum to a show producer, demanding they pick between herself and Shannen. This alleged ultimatum is said to have contributed to Shannen’s departure from the show in 2001.

In February 2024, Alyssa stated on Instagram that she didn’t possess the authority to terminate anybody and considered any subsequent narration about this old incident as a form of revisionist history.

The following day, Shannen asserted during a panel discussion at MegaCon Orlando, “I stand by the truth as I remember it, and there’s no rewriting of history taking place.

In September 2023, while engaging in a game titled “Stir the Pot” on TopMob News with her daughter Kelly Osbourne, Sharon expressed that the former star of “That ’70s Show” was the most rude celebrity she had ever encountered. She labeled him as a “very impolite boy” and a “naughty little thing.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

About five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that when Ashton was a guest on The Talk in 2014, he displayed an “attitude” following her mistake of mispronouncing his name.

She remembered him asking, “‘Who are you and what is your background in this field?'” to which she responded, “Boy, don’t test me, because I can outshine you so easily.” In other words, she said something like, “You have no idea about the caliber of person you’re messing with.

In August of 2022, Cassadee and Maren found themselves in a heated exchange with Brittany, the spouse of country artist Jason Aldean, following a post she made on Instagram Reels where she was applying makeup on August 23rd. Accompanying her video, she wrote a caption expressing gratitude to her parents for not altering her gender during her tomboy phase, and expressed her love for living life as a woman.

In a TikTok challenge from 2022, JoJo Siwa labeled Candace Cameron Bure as the “most impolite” celebrity. She stated that she felt slighted when Bure declined to take a photo with her on a red carpet previously. Following this remark, however, the actress from Full House issued an apology: “I guess I hurt your 11-year-old feelings. I didn’t take a picture with you. Oh dear! I feel terrible, I feel – JoJo, I’m truly sorry.

After resolving their differences, it’s important to note that a few months passed before Candace was questioned about the possibility of the Great American Family network, where she holds the position of chief creative officer, including same-sex couples as main characters in holiday movies. She responded negatively and further clarified that the network intends to uphold traditional marriage values as its core focus.

In 2021, JoJo publicly identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community and expressed on Instagram that the actress’ remark was both disrespectful and painful to an entire group of individuals.

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed that Olivia Rodrigo had used the cover of her band Hole’s album without giving credit for a promotional photo. Olivia responded with “I adore you and am deeply inspired by this experience.” Courtney then quipped, “Olivia, consider it as a compliment. My preferred florist is located in Notting Hill, London! Send me a message for details! I eagerly await reading your letter [wink emoji].

During an episode of “Watch What Happens Live”, the actor from “Happy Days” was questioned about his strained relationship with the “Forrest Gump” actor while filming the movie “Turner & Hooch” in 1989.

For 13 days, I had been in charge of that movie’s direction, but then I was summoned to Jeff Katzenberg’s office, where he told me, “Have all your things ready? You can leave now,” he stated.

Winkler did, however, seem to get along with Hanks’ four-legged co-star. “I got along great, great with that dog,” he said. “Love that dog.”

He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”

Supporters of the show “The Hills” might recall that well-known phrase, spoken by Lauren during the season three opener. Their conflict ignited when Heidi started dating her current spouse, Spencer Pratt, and reached its zenith when Lauren alleged that Heidi and Spencer had initiated a rumor about her making a sex tape with Jason Wahler.

A fresh dispute between costars erupted as Tyrese took to Instagram to criticize Dwayne Johnson following the delay of the release date for Fast and Furious 9 to April 2020. On that very day, it became known that a spinoff film featuring Dwayne and Jason Statham was scheduled for release in 2019. A month later, Tyrese indicated he might leave Fast 9 if Dwayne were to appear in the movie.

Later on, Tyrese revealed details about their disagreement during an interview on the “The Red Pill” podcast with Van Lathan. He mentioned, “Up until now, I haven’t spoken to The Rock personally, but I will have a chat with him.” He also disclosed that he spoke with The Rock’s production partner, but not the actor directly.

In a role as a representative for multiple individuals linked to the business, I unwittingly took on the task of sharing their sentiments openly. However, the blame falls squarely on me for doing so publicly, an action that was my own mistake. It’s unprofessional and it’s not the right move.

No more bad blood here.

For a long time, Taylor and Katy had been at odds, with Taylor’s song “Bad Blood” apparently reflecting this dispute. The conflict, which supposedly began due to a shared backup dancer and conflicting tours, was resolved when Perry extended an olive branch to Taylor before the start of her Reputation Tour.

Taylor shared a video on Instagram, saying, “Just discovered an authentic olive branch in my dressing room! It means so much to me.

Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For many years, speculations about a feud between co-stars Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker from the show “Sex and the City” had been put to rest. However, these rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to rejoin for a third film and made remarks about her fellow actress that left people questioning their relationship.

Andy Cohen inquired about Sarah Jessica Parker’s response when Kim Cattrall claimed they were only professional acquaintances, not friends, during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live” in September 2017.

She conveyed her feelings by saying, “I’m truly devastated. We had discussed that topic throughout last week, and it left me feeling quite distressed since it doesn’t align with my memories of our shared experience.

She expressed, “Regrettably, the shared experience we’ve had over the years, though it was professional initially, has turned deeply personal. It encompassed significant chunks of our lives. So I pray that this bond transcends any more recent discussions. Having invested so much time in something so meaningful and connecting is truly a unique privilege.

And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Ever since 2004, these renowned musicians have been involved in a long-standing dispute. During the Q Awards that year, Elton John made a statement to the audience upon receiving the Classic Songwriter Award, “Madonna, regarded as the best live act? Absolutely not! When does miming count as live? I apologize, but I believe anyone who mimes in public on stage, especially when fans pay around 75 pounds to watch them, should be reprimanded.

Back in 2008, the actress who once played a leading role on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ ignited a disagreement with the show’s creator. This dispute started when she decided not to be considered for Emmy Awards, explaining that the scripts she was given didn’t offer her the chance to perform material worthy of a nomination.

Later on, Shonda discussed Katherine’s choice during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ in 2012. She stated, “On one hand it hurt, and on the other hand I wasn’t taken aback. When people reveal their true selves to you, trust them. That’s a lesson I hold close and it has benefited me greatly.

During the New York Fashion Week, the world was buzzing about an intense argument between Nicki and Cardi that took place at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party. A month later, Cardi revealed what had sparked the disagreement with Nicki.

For some time, she has been firing numerous criticisms at me, as Cardi explained in the Art Issue of W magazine. We had spoken twice prior, and reached a mutual agreement, but she persisted with her actions.

The genuine source of conflict ignited between them when Cardi noticed that Nicki appeared to have both liked and subsequently unliked a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting abilities, an action that Nicki has since refuted.

Cardi B stated, “I had the opportunity to earn millions from my Bruno Mars tour, but I chose to stay with my daughter instead. This decision holds great significance for me because I am a dedicated mother. It seems strange for someone without children to criticize this choice. Many people might argue that it wasn’t the right moment or place, but I won’t find myself confronting another artist in the supermarket or on the street.

The conflict between Kanye and Taylor Swift initially ignited back in 2009 during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, as Kanye, the rapper known for “Stronger,” interrupted her moment on stage. They reconciled years later and even built a friendship, but that bond was shattered once again following the release of his song “Famous,” which references Taylor Swift, the singer behind “End Game.

“I don’t know her.”

15 years or more have passed since the ongoing “dispute” between Mariah and J.Lo began. It originated when Mariah, known as the Queen of Christmas, was queried about several singers during an interview. When asked about Jennifer, she responded, “I’m not familiar with her.
