As a long-time wrestling fan and avid gamer, I’ve seen my fair share of backstage drama and online feuds between wrestlers. But Drew McIntyre’s recent social media post with Jack Perry took things to a new level.
On Thursday, Drew McIntyre reaffirmed his role as the year’s biggest hater by posting a picture of himself with AEW’s Jack Perry on social media. He captioned it, “Go ahead and cry about it.” The incident stems from Perry’s involvement in McIntyre’s ongoing feud with CM Punk. At AEW ALL IN: London 2023, Perry and Punk had a heated exchange during the live broadcast, resulting in a physical fight. In the aftermath, Punk was fired by AEW President Tony Khan “for cause.”
McIntyre removed his picture with Perry from social media after it had been viewable for a short time, sparking rumors that an insider from WWE or Punk himself had requested the deletion.

According to WRKD Wrestling’s update, there is no issue whatsoever behind the scenes between Drew McIntyre and Jack Perry regarding McIntyire’s social media post. Instead, they are collaborating to develop their feud, with any references to Punk’s AEW background or other backstage matters approved by Punk prior to use.
McIntyre generally expresses his dislike for Punk in WWE broadcasts, but he is more open with his criticism on social media. Before the Perry photo incident, McIntyre made fun of Punk’s controversial AEW All Out 2022 press conference and even stopped by Mindy’s Bakery in Chicago.
McIntyre and Punk are all set to clash at WWE SummerSlam on August 3rd, marking the end of their long-standing feud which began in January. In that fateful month, McIntyre inflicted a Future Shock DDT upon Punk, resulting in a torn triceps for the latter. Since then, Punk has made occasional appearances on WWE shows, while McIntyre has engaged in rivalries with Seth Rollins and Damian Priest. However, his undivided attention has always been on Punk, frequently taunting him and losing focus from his true opponents. Now, with Punk given the green light for competition, both will face off in a highly-anticipated singles match at Cleveland Browns Stadium – their first such encounter since 2014.
