Netflix’s series “Bad Influence” or “Mala Influencia” unveils the chilling tale of a relentless stalker, whose sole purpose seems to be to torment teen ballerina Reese Russell (Eléa Rochera). The recently released Spanish romance thriller unfolds as Reese finds herself under the watchful eye of a bodyguard named Eros (Alberto Olmo), tasked with safeguarding her from a long-term stalker who has been terrorizing her family.
Over time, Eros and Reese develop a strong bond, eventually finding themselves deeply in love – a fact that greatly displeases her affluent father, serving as a central conflict much like the forbidden romance in “The Gardener.” Directed by Chloé Wallace, “Bad Influence” features Alberto Olmo, Eléa Rochera, Mirela Balić, and Enrique Arce, a cast member from “Money Heist.
The film “Bad Influence” delves into Reese’s mounting suspicions as she finds comfort in Eros. Unbeknownst to her, the stalker could be lurking more closely than she realizes.
In the movie “Bad Influence“, Raul, portrayed by Fer Fraga, is revealed as Reese’s former boyfriend. There appears to be an unresolved attachment from their previous relationship, suggesting a lingering obsession towards her.
Initially in the movie, it’s evident that Raul maintains resentment towards her, often putting down or criticizing Reese whenever they are in proximity to one another.
It’s a relief that Eros is around to shield Reese, urging Raul to cease his bullying. Despite his animosity towards Reese, Bad Influence verified that Raul is not the stalker. Instead, it appears that the stalker is someone concealed among us.
Eventually, it comes to light that the person stalking Reese is in fact Peyton (Mirela Balić) – a friend of Eros with a long-standing grievance towards the Russells.
As it happens, Peyton’s mother perished in a fire that originated at Bruce Russell’s restaurant, tragically also claiming the lives of Eros’ parents and spouse. It just so happens that these events were part of the same incident.
The careless behavior of Bruce, who seemingly lit a cigar in the restaurant, ignited the fire. Ridden with guilt, he concealed his role and took part in raising Eros as he grew up.
After discovering the truth, Peyton embarked on a mission for vengeance, which eventually focused on Reese. In order to get near her target, she deceived Eros about her true occupation and took up a cleaning position at Reese’s school instead.
In the climax of “Bad Influence”, Peyton manages to kill Bruce, marking the completion of her long-held revenge strategy. The movie’s conclusion, however, leaves it unclear whether Peyton faces legal consequences for her actions. Nevertheless, the film ends on a hopeful note as Eros and Reese find their perfect union, now able to be together freely following Bruce’s demise.
