Bad Sisters confirms season 2 release date and new cast – get a first look

As a movie critic who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless cinematic sagas, I must say that the return of the Garvey sisters in Bad Sisters is nothing short of a triumphant reunion. Having been a devoted fan since its inception, I can attest to the fact that this Apple TV+ comedy has consistently delivered a blend of humor, drama, and suspense that is second to none.

OK Bad Sisters fans – remain calm but the Garvey sisters are well and truly back.

Apart from unveiling the very first glimpse of the upcoming second season of the popular Apple TV+ comedy, they’ve also announced an official release date for our enjoyment.

The opening episodes of the fresh season will air on Wednesday, 13th November. From that day forth, a new episode will be made available every week, continuing all the way up to Christmas Day.

We were already excited about the main Garvey sisters returning for the new season, but the latest image (above) has definitely piqued our curiosity even further by showcasing them in a unique setting.

In this picture, Sharon Horgan’s character Eva appears to be the main focus, but it seems like several sisters have gathered together, possibly at a wedding reception, with strong indications that Anne-Marie Duff’s character Grace might be the bride, as she is wearing a white dress.

In this outdoor setting, beautifully adorned tables and a row of photographs create an idyllic, romantic atmosphere for a wedding reception. Fans of the series will recognize that Bibi’s eye patch makes it impossible for this photo to depict Grace’s wedding to her abusive husband John Paul. So, who is Bibi (Sarah Greene) tying the knot with in this scene?

The new season begins two years following John Paul’s “unintended demise,” and based on the summary, it appears that although the tightly bonded Garvey sisters have moved forward, when long-buried facts reemerge, they find themselves back in the limelight. At this point, everyone is on edge with suspicions running high, falsehoods are spoken, secrets come to light, and the sisters must determine who they can rely upon.

Apart from Horgan, Duff, and Greene reprising their characters, Eva Birthistle will be portraying Ursula and Eve Hewson as Becka. Additionally, Daryl McCormack will continue to play Matthew Claffin, but it’s unclear if Brian Gleeson will return for season 2, which might mean we’ve seen the last of Matthew’s brother Thomas and his wife Theresa, played by Seána Kerslake.

In a new development, Michael Smiley reappears as Roger Muldoon. Given the dramatic ending of season 1, could it be that the possibility of a wedding is hinted at for his character and Grace?

Elsewhere, Saise Quinn is back as Grace’s daughter Blanaid, while Peter Claffey is back as Callum.

Season 2 introduces an array of fresh talent, such as Fiona Shaw from “True Detective: Night Country”, Owen McDonnell known for “Killing Eve”, Thaddea Graham starring in “Sex Education”, Barry Ward recognized in “The Capture”, Yasmine Akram famous for “Sherlock”, Jonjo O’Neill of “The Fall”, Deirdre Mullins from “The Couple Next Door”, Lorcan Cranitch seen in “Bloodlands”, Liz Fitzgibbon known for “Normal People”, and Justine Mitchell who has worked on “Smother”.

Once more, the latest season is brought to us by the BAFTA-winning executive producer and leading actor, Horgan. The first season was an enormous success for Apple’s streaming service and received widespread critical praise across the globe.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation about what’s next. Just like the rollercoaster ride of the first season, it seems we’re about to embark on another exhilarating journey. The Garvey sisters are set to tangle once more with their share of secrets and deceptions, all while navigating life’s complexities, nurturing relationships, and juggling work commitments. It’s a tantalizing prospect that leaves me eagerly awaiting each new development!

Despite not providing many details, Duff hinted at something unexpected in her latest interview on the Dish from Waitrose podcast: “There’s a surprise around every corner! I can’t disclose it all, but I have a feeling that danger lurks in every direction.”
