Ballerina Star Ana de Armas Teases Trailer Release and Addresses Reshoot Reports

As a die-hard John Wick fan, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming Ballerina spinoff. The reshoots might have delayed its release, but from Ana de Armas‘ words, it seems they’ve managed to make something truly spectacular. I’m eagerly waiting for that trailer drop, and I have a feeling it’s going to blow our minds with its danger, sex appeal, and undeniably John Wick vibe.

Fans of the John Wick series might face a lengthy wait for the upcoming spinoff movie, Ballerina, initially planned for summer release next year. However, lead actress Ana de Armas asserts that the extra time spent on reshoots for this action-packed film was worth it. In an interview with Collider, de Armas hinted at the “spectacular footage” captured during Ballerina’s reshoots and suggested that a trailer for the hotly anticipated movie would be released soon. Originally slated for summer release, the Ballerina production was delayed until 2025 to film additional action scenes with John Wick director Chad Stahelski.

During the additional filming, everything we shot was essential, according to de Armas. The footage we got is outstanding, truly breathtaking. I’ve been informed that a trailer will be released shortly. I’ve seen it, and it’s stunning. I’m incredibly proud of it. It’s really thrilling. It’s action-packed, it’s sensual, it has a very ‘John Wick’ feel to it. I believe people are going to be taken aback. I might be biased, but I think it’s quite impressive. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

When I first heard about the reshoots for the movie Ballerina, the man behind the character Winston from John Wick, that’s me by the way, made it clear that we shot fresh scenes specifically for this film. The aim was to make sure Ballerina would fit snugly within the broader universe of the John Wick franchise.

McShane previously stated that instead of re-shooting scenes, they were filming new ones for the “Ballerina” spinoff from the “John Wick” series. Starring Ana de Armas, they’re doing this to ensure the franchise remains strong. He mentioned that they worked on it approximately a year ago, filmed the movie “Ballerina”, and since then, Chad Stahelski, director of all the “John Wick” films, has come in to make improvements. This is to safeguard the franchise because Keanu Reeves is also involved, and the story occurs between “John Wick 3” and “John Wick 4”.

As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that I’ll be seeing myself in the role of Rooney, a ballet dancer with a deadly secret, in the upcoming movie “Ballerina.” This action-packed thriller finds me tracking down those responsible for the tragic loss of my family. Joining me on this journey are talented actors like Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Lance Reddick, who sadly, this will be his final screen appearance. The film also boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston, and McShane. Len Wiseman is at the helm as director, with a script by Shay Hatten. McShane has confirmed that the film takes place between “John Wick 3” and “John Wick 4.” I can’t wait to bring this captivating story to life on the big screen!

McShane mentioned that this story falls between “John Wick 3” and “John Wick 4”, as Keanu Reeves is also involved. They didn’t want to place it after “John Wick 4” because fans might speculate about John Wick’s survival and wonder what would happen next or if there will be a “John Wick 5”. By placing it between the films, they can maintain the illusion that there may not be another “John Wick” sequel.

Regarding the news about John Wick 5, it was just confirmed that the production isn’t starting yet – Chad Stahelski is currently busy with the Henry Cavill-led Highlander remake instead. However, this doesn’t necessarily rule out a future fifth installment in the John Wick series; Stahelski now has overall control of all things John Wick for Lionsgate due to a first-look deal he signed with the studio back in January.

Keanu Reeves expressed his joy about deepening his bond with Lionsgate, taking on the supervision of the John Wick universe and its future developments. He stated this back then. John Wick holds a special place in his heart, and he’s thrilled about the prospect of continuing to guide it. Additionally, he’s excited to kick off another franchise with Highlander, a world brimming with captivating tales waiting to be told.
