“I Think Something That Moves Every Human Being Is Family

  • TopMob: “You play Lena, who is eventually revealed to be Eve’s long-lost sister. What clues do you think audiences might have missed earlier in the movie that hinted towards this?”

People won’t anticipate it because they wouldn’t connect the dots unless they’ve seen the film. The story begins with Eve as a child with her father, and he subtly suggests that she resembles her sister. However, viewers will be just as surprised as I was when reading the script when they realize that the assassin in Hallstatt is actually Eve’s sister.

  • TopMob: “What is Lena thinking in that moment when all is revealed? What goes through her head?”

Catalina Sandino Moreno believes that a strong emotional pull for many people is their family. However, it seems like she herself has never experienced this sense of belonging within a family. Her father left her and her mother, and tragically, her mother passed away. Now, she finds herself drawn towards this Chancellor who appears to have a devoted following.

1. She lacked the traditional family setup – no mom, dad, siblings, or pet. This was a family structure she never knew.

2. When it was revealed that this person she had been pursuing was her sister, everything shifted dramatically. It was at this point that she began to ponder independently.

  • TopMob: “How did your character’s story develop? Did it change a lot from the beginning of the process to what we’ve gotten in the final version?”

Catalina Sandino Moreno: The transformation was minimal indeed, almost imperceptible. There’s hardly any major shift. I believe that the fundamental essence of the character has remained constant throughout. However, yes, there have been some slight alterations, but at the core, it has always stayed the same.

  • TopMob: “Sadly, not long after this reveal, you do perish. Was there ever a world where we got to see you live longer and kick some ass alongside Ana de Armas?”

Catalina Sandino Moreno: I’m not certain, but there’s still a possibility. After all, we’re in the realm of ‘John Wick’. One can never truly predict.

  • TopMob: “How [much of a conversation] did you have with Ana [de Armas] about building that screen time that you guys do share together as siblings? What were those conversations?

Catalina Sandino Moreno: We didn’t discuss that particular topic. We didn’t plan out what would transpire; instead, we’ll take things as they come. Let’s find out together. Let’s delve into it. And it turned out well.
