Bandai Namco Reports 995 Percent Increase in Profits From Previous Year

According to Bandai Namco’s financial report from the past year, they shared the impressive performance of several of their video games. As observed by Automaton, this increase in profits skyrocketed an astonishing 995% primarily due to the success of the Elden Ring DLC named Shadow of the Erdtree, along with the launch of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Last year’s earnings significantly surpassed expectations, with a 22.3% rise in total revenue reaching approximately $3.16 billion. This figure is notably higher than the company’s projected $2.57 billion revenue. Regarding profit, the company exceeded its predicted income by a substantial margin, earning $475 million compared to the forecasted $208 million.

The company has noted a 3.5% increase in year-over-year sales, primarily driven by licensed games based on well-known manga and anime such as Dragon Ball and One Piece, along with titles like Gakuen Idolmaster contributing significantly to this growth.

Bandai Namco announced in November that they were experiencing significant revenue growth due to the launch of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. This game was also confirmed by the company to have sold over 3 million copies within its first day on sale. At that time, the company reported a 21.8% rise in net sales compared to the previous year and an impressive 188% jump in profits.

By June 2024, it was confirmed that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree had surpassed 5 million in sales, an achievement made even amidst criticism over the DLC’s perceived excessive difficulty.
