Barstool's Dave Portnoy Reacts to Brianna LaPaglia-Grace O'Malley Feud

After Grace O’Malley declared she was parting ways with Barstool Sports following the conclusion of a 20-year bond with Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, the company’s founder shared his insights on her decision to leave.

Dave expressed his confusion in a December 17th video on X about what people expect Barstool to do following his exit, saying “It can be tough when two long-time friends, both employees, develop animosity. Apart from what he previously mentioned, Dave additionally provided further details about the situation that appeared to originate from Brianna’s connection with Zach Bryan.

Zach behaves rudely towards Grace and Bri is finding herself in a difficult situation due to Zach’s behavior, he clarified. It’s unfortunate because it seems like they are developing animosity for each other. (Brianna recently revealed their unexpected breakup from the “Something in the Orange” singer in October, which she described as emotionally abusive. Zach has not publicly responded to these allegations.)

Dave mentioned that Brianna, his cohost on the BFFs podcast from 2020 to 2024 (which also included Josh Richards), informed him in October that she intended to stop doing their joint podcast Plan Bri because they simply don’t see eye-to-eye.

Following our approval of the decision, the 47-year-old contacted Grace on October 17th, expressing his concern for her even though he’s close with Brianna. Grace acknowledged his kindness by offering thanks.

Dave asserted that he and Grace were planning a future solo podcast on Barstool, about which he expressed excitement. Meanwhile, Brianna was gaining popularity after her split with Zach, an event she later discussed on the “BFFs” show.

He stated that Bri was gaining icon status due to her decision to reject a proposed $12 million, which Zach had supposedly offered. However, he lamented, this situation took an unpleasant turn, escalating and causing a major problem. If only things hadn’t gone sour in this way.

On December 4th, when Spotify unveiled its 2024 Wrapped, Brianna shared on her Instagram Stories that the creatively titled Plan Bri, recognized as one of Spotify’s Breakout Creators of 2024, would be making a comeback in some form of its original.

After seeing her post, Grace later expressed on Instagram Stories that this was the first she had learned about the situation. Her initial intention had been for her and Brianna to release a joint statement announcing the conclusion of their podcast.

In a video uploaded on December 17th, Dave presented some screenshots of text messages. These texts were the reason he felt compelled to discuss the Instagram story made by Grace. He clarified that his intention was not to take sides but rather to address the past issues, aiming to leave them behind and move forward together.

Even though he thinks Grace didn’t mean for Brianna’s statement to result in criticism, he commented, “It ignites a conflict.

Dave mentioned that Brianna potentially worsened the situation when she engaged with fans online about their breakup, and even showed proof of these interactions. Interestingly, Dave claimed to have asked Grace to appear on his “BFFs” podcast, but she chose not to participate.

Meanwhile, he acknowledged that despite being both of their boss, he was more partial to Brianna.

He mentioned that he’s been podcasting with her for four years. He considers her a friend and stands up for his friends. In his opinion, what she’s being accused of is nonsense. This doesn’t mean he dislikes O’Malley. On the contrary, he likes O’Malley, but at this moment, O’Malley doesn’t require defense. The entire internet seems to be supporting her, while the internet is attacking Bri fiercely.
