When Timothée Chalamet initially agreed to portray Bob Dylan in the critically acclaimed biopic “A Complete Unknown,” he didn’t anticipate it becoming a five-and-a-half-year long saga. The “Dune” actor became involved with the project in 2019, but due to filming delays resulting from the pandemic and industry disputes, Chalamet was afforded ample time to delve deeply into his research for the role.

A Complete Unknown” follows the life story of the renowned musician from 1961 to 1965, using a script inspired by Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!“. This text proved useful for Chalamet, in addition to YouTube videos, music tutorials, and the 1967 documentary “Don’t Look Back“, as research materials.
