As a gamer with decades of film enthusiast experience under my belt, I must say that the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been a long-awaited and exhilarating event! The anticipation was palpable among fans, and it’s not every day that a sequel manages to outshine its predecessor in terms of box office success. With its impressive opening weekend gross, this film has secured a place in the history books alongside some heavy-hitters.
Following a long anticipation of 36 years, crowds flocked to see the sequel of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. Interestingly, the movie raked in $110 million during its first weekend, making it the second highest-grossing September release ever, surpassed only by 2017’s It. This impressive figure also ranks it among the top debuts of 2024, trailing only Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2. If you’re a fan of Tim Burton who already owns the 1988 Beetlejuice film in 4K Blu-ray, you might want to add this new movie to your collection. Will There Be a Beetlejuice 3?
Although a third Beetlejuice movie, titled simply Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, may seem like an undeniable must-make, director Tim Burton remains hesitant regarding its production.
Burton, who is 66 years old, mentioned during a Venice press conference (as reported by Deadline) that it would take 35 years for a Beetlejuice sequel, considering the time elapsed since the original movie. He also added that he would be over 100 years old by then, but with advancements in medical science, it might be possible. However, he doesn’t believe so. In simpler terms, Burton said it would take too long for a sequel because it has been 35 years since the original film, and he wouldn’t be that age anymore, but maybe due to medical advancements it could happen, though he doubts it will.
It appears that if Beetlejuice 2 continues to perform well, the production of a sequel might get expedited within a year or two rather than waiting for several decades. Let’s stay tuned for updates.
“Beetlejuice is back! Following an unexpected loss in their family, the Deetz clan heads to Winter River. However, they find that Beetlejuice still lingers in their home, causing chaos for Lydia when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, stumbles upon a mysterious model of the town hidden in the attic and unintentionally opens a gateway to the Afterlife. With problems arising in both worlds, it’s just a matter of time before someone utters Beetlejuice’s name three times, summoning the mischievous spirit to wreak his own kind of havoc.
