As a lifelong fan of Tim Burton’s whimsical and macabre cinematic universe, I can barely contain my excitement for the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Having grown up with the original 1988 film, I remember the thrill of watching Michael Keaton’s unforgettable portrayal of Betelgeuse, and I can hardly wait to see him return to the role that made him a household name.
The eagerly anticipated sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic “Beetlejuice,” featuring Michael Keaton reprising his role as the eccentric character Beetlejuice, is finally set to stream on Max. Joining him are beloved original cast members like Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, along with “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega taking a key role. While some moviegoers prefer the big-screen experience, others look forward to watching their favorite films from home comfort. If you’re one of those Beetlejuice fans who have been waiting for the sequel at home, get ready! As a Max subscriber, you can start streaming “Beetlejuice” on Friday, December 6th.
Not only is there a scheduled airing date for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, but HBO is set to premiere it linearly on Saturday, December 7th at 6:10 p.m. ET. In addition, various versions of the movie will be streamable on Max, including an American Sign Language (ASL) version in the U.S. and Europe, as well as a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (LIBRAS) in Brazil. The ASL version features Sophia Morales, a popular Deaf interpreter known for her engaging ASL interpretations of songs on social media, while Andrey Baptista performs the LIBRAS version. These specialized versions of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will be available as distinct titles on the Max app.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sets a new record for Tim Burton
The financial success of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has made it Tim Burton’s top-earning film in more than a decade, outperforming Warner Bros.’ own “Joker: Folie á Deux” during its sixth week in theaters to secure third place at the September box office. This indicates that while “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” retained its appeal, the combined influence of Joker and Harley Quinn wasn’t sufficient to boost the earnings of “Joker 2.” Initially, “Beetlejuice 2” held the number one spot at the box office for three weeks until it was displaced by “The Wild Robot.
I’m thrilled to be part of the ensemble cast of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” joining the likes of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara! And guess what? The newcomers are none other than Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, and Willem Dafoe. Can’t wait to see this talented group bring the movie to life!
In the director’s chair for “Wednesday” is Tim Burton, who works from a screenplay written by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar. The story, however, was developed jointly by Gough & Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith, and it’s based on characters created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson, as seen in “The LEGO Batman Movie”.
