Bella Thorne is stepping up for JoJo Siwa.
In the wake of Mickey Rourke‘s homophobic remark towards a “Dance Moms” star during filming for “Celebrity Big Brother UK”, the former cast member of “Shake It Up” opened up about her own unfavorable encounter with Rourke.
On her Instagram Story, April 10th, Thorne expressed, “This man,” referring to Rouke, is quite displeasing to me. “Very inappropriate.
The 27-year-old went on to detail her own experience working with Rourke in 2020 on the film Girl.
In Thorne’s own words, “I found myself in a scene where I was restrained with zip ties around my back, working alongside another man. He was supposed to use a metal grinder on my knee cap, but instead, he opted to apply it repeatedly to his area through my jeans, targeting the sensitive parts.
In the scene Thorne mentions, Rourke lifts a metallic grinding tool to a location significantly above his knees in the 2020 horror movie.
“She remembered having bruises covering her hip bones,” she said. “Working alongside Mickey was undoubtedly one of the most distressing acting experiences I’ve ever had.” (This version aims to keep the original meaning while using simpler, more conversational language and rephrasing some words for clarity.)
Later, Thorne remarked that she had numerous unpleasant memories associated with working alongside Rourke, as expressed in a later post on X.
Thorne mentioned that she believed he found it amusing to embarrass me in front of everyone on set. At one point, I had to plead with him to wrap up filming. She added that if we hadn’t, all our work would have been wasted and for nothing. I didn’t want to do it, but I was uncomfortable and followed instructions for the good of the movie.
In her words, “Mickey ought not to have placed anyone in such questionable roles as he did within that film.
TopMob News has contacted representatives for Rourke and the production company, Screen Media Films, but hasn’t received a response yet.
Thorne’s remarks follow closely on the heels of videos showing Rourke scolding Siwa on the set of Celebrity Big Brother becoming widely shared online.
In a video clip that was shared on X, Rourke stated, “If you extend your stay beyond four days, you’ll no longer identify as gay,” to Siwa, who has recently announced his relationship with Kath Ebbs. In response, the professional dancer assured him, “I can assure you that I will remain gay and my relationship will continue to be very happy.
Then, Rourke replied to Siwa, “I’ll tie you up.”
Following my understanding of the show’s rules for Celebrity Big Brother UK, Rourke later expressed, “I plan to cast my vote for the contestant who identifies as a lesbian.
Siwa, remaining composed, replied, “That’s homophobic.”
Additionally, when Rourke called Siwa a derogatory term for homosexuals, she expressed her astonishment about its continued existence to her fellow cast member, Chris Hughes.
The producers of Celebrity Big Brother UK issued a warning to Rourke, letting him know that any more instances of such language or behavior would result in his dismissal from the show.
