Ben Affleck is not digging into the details. 

Following the conclusion of his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, which took place in January, the director of “Air” stated that there was no mystery surrounding the cause of their split and has chosen not to disclose further details about it.

In an interview with GQ, published on March 25, Ben explained why he prefers not to disclose something: it’s somewhat awkward and makes him feel exposed or vulnerable.

Ben, who has children Violet (19), Seraphina (16), and Samuel (16) with his ex-partner Jennifer Garner, mentioned that fame was not the primary reason for their split. Despite having contrasting preferences regarding public life, they found other factors more significant in their separation.

He clarified, “There’s no factual account here, it’s merely a narrative about individuals navigating their lives and connections, much like how most of us typically manage our own.

J.Lo expressed her views about the couple’s split, which occurred in April as previously reported, during an interview profile in October. She candidly admitted that her entire world was shattered when her marriage disintegrated, using a strong expletive to emphasize the impact.

During summertime, she shared that she felt the need to step away and be independent. She wanted to demonstrate her ability to handle things alone, but realized she hadn’t fully grasped the concept before.

Instead of explicitly naming Ben, she hinted at their past connection by saying, “I shouldn’t seek joy from others; I must find it within myself.” This implies a history between them and expresses her sentiment about personal happiness.

Moreover, Ben acknowledged that fame, which became a significant part of his life after the success of Good Will Hunting in 1997, was not the primary reason for his separation from J.Lo. However, he confessed that dealing with this newfound fame has never been an effortless task for him.

Reflecting on my humble beginnings in the dazzling world of Hollywood, as I shared with GQ, I recall a sense of being utterly diminished. It wasn’t about feeling grand, but rather, I was catapulted to the forefront, leaving me uncertain and questioning: What is expected of a person? How does one conduct themselves? How do you navigate this uncharted territory?

The 52-year-old admitted it was difficult to adjust to the overnight success.

At times, I found myself doing foolish acts and saying things that were cringeworthy, since I didn’t know if I was acting in a comedy like ‘Jackass’ or something similar,” he reminisced. “Was I just running through the background, stripping at the Oscars, thinking that was my role? It felt awkward or fleeting, as if it wasn’t meant to be.

Those feelings seemed to linger for years. 

“It took a long time,” he added. “There’s no playbook.”

However, Ben insisted he had no “negativity or judgement” toward J.Lo’s own relationship with fame.

As he put it, “This is someone I have a lot of respect for.”
