There’s something about getting back together.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: Just like Ben Stiller, I can attest to the power of time and patience in relationships. Over three years since our separation, my former partner and I, much like the characters from ‘Zoolander’, found ourselves reunited during these unprecedented times of the pandemic. And frankly, I never thought this reunion would be possible.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, I shared that our reunion wasn’t something I had anticipated. However, upon our split, there lingered within me an unwillingness to simply let go, holding onto the hope that we might find our way back together again.
Hey there! I’ve always been a die-hard fan, and this story about Ben, Christine, Ella, and Quinlin truly touched my heart. In 2000, these two lovebirds, now 59 and 53 respectively, exchanged vows and started their family with the arrival of Ella, now 22, and Quinlin, 19. Unfortunately, they went their separate ways in 2017. But here’s what really gets me – Ben found inspiration for their potential reconciliation from his late parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who shared a beautiful decades-long romance and professional partnership. Their enduring love story has left an indelible mark on my heart and continues to inspire me.
He mentioned that, to some extent, watching his parents played a role in it. Moreover, he cherishes Christine and his family deeply, and wasn’t prepared to simply walk away from them when things got tough.
Additionally, I greatly enjoy spending time with my family and Christine, sharing laughter,” said the actor from ‘Along Came Polly.’ “Hence, I’m glad I didn’t entirely overlook such joyous moments.
Even though he acknowledges the factors that led to their reconciliation, Ben openly states that working together was a significant contributor to their eventual separation.
Ben, who’s been in four films with his spouse, stated, “I get involved when you start making movies, and if things don’t turn out right, it can affect me. At times, I even need to be taken away from it.
Earlier, Ben had given some details about him and Christine reconciling their relationship. He mentioned that this reconciliation occurred a year into the pandemic, when they both chose to stay in New York City during the lockdowns and live together instead.
Ben revealed to The New York Times during an interview on January 11th that we lived in the same house for nearly a year before we were reunited. However, I am incredibly thankful for this experience, and I believe not too many couples manage to reconcile after separating.
He went on, “Coming back makes everything feel unique, you see. You value your possessions more deeply since you’ve tasted the realization that they weren’t guaranteed to be yours.
Keep reading to look back on Ben and Christine’s love story…
Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor have been married since 2000. They separated in 2017 but didn’t go through with a divorce. During the pandemic, they chose to quarantine together with their children Ella and Quinlin. After this shared experience, they decided to reunite permanently.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of tagging along with my dad, Ben, at various events. For instance, I was thrilled to attend the premiere of the short film “Let Liv” at the June 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, a production where my mom, Christine, lent her talent. On this occasion, we all chose different black ensembles to complement each other.
Previously, I’ve been Ben’s date at events such as the 2022 Emmys, the 2018 premiere of “Free Solo“, the 2017 premiere of “The Meyerowitz Stories“, and the opening night of the Broadway musical “Groundhog Day“.
In 2019, my father and I made a striking appearance together at the Golden Globes, supporting the Showtime miniseries “Escape to Dannemora“, for which he received a nomination for Outstanding Directing.
Ben shared his feelings about working with Ella on the set of Escape to Dannemora, expressing that he felt “very pleased” when he talked to TopMob. He said, “Things turned out wonderfully,” and he was thankful for her respect, which made him happy because at home they often don’t get along so well. However, on the set, it was a very positive experience for both of them.
Apart from her minor part in “Escape to Dannemora”, Ella has also featured in “Hubie Halloween” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”. In 2019, Ben shared with TopMob that Ella appears to have a passion for pursuing an acting career. Christine too spoke about her choice, telling “Us Weekly” in 2018 that she never discouraged her from following in her parents’ footsteps. As The Brady Bunch Movie alum put it, “She was born with a purpose, and I never stood in her way. She is a determined and ambitious young woman who loves acting. New York City has exposed her to a wealth of shows and experiences, and she’s caught the acting bug. There’s no stopping her, but I didn’t push her into it.
Previously, Ben acknowledged that Ella shared with him her feelings about feeling neglected during her childhood due to his professional commitments. He admitted in an interview with Esquire that it was painful to hear, but he felt it was crucial to acknowledge her perspective. Though it was challenging for him to balance fulfilling his own aspirations and being there for Ella, he clarified that what she truly desired wasn’t just a successful father but one who was emotionally present and supportive. He added that his children likely didn’t keep track of his absences due to work; instead, they sought a caring and involved parent more than a creative pioneer.
During an interview on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Ben admitted that Ella had transformed him into a dedicated Taylor Swift fan by making him listen to her music while teaching her how to drive. He went on to say, “We would play her favorite artist on the iPhone, and it turned out to be Taylor Swift. I was already a fan, but now I’d consider myself a devoted Swiftie.”
Taylor’s tunes had a soothing effect on both Ella and him. In addition, he showcased his newfound fandom by discussing the latest albums like “Folklore” and “Evermore,” as well as songs such as “Cardigan,” “Betty,” and “August.” These tracks revolve around the same love triangle but offer different perspectives. Interestingly, the characters in these songs are named after Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children. Furthermore, he mentioned that he enjoyed Taylor’s extended version of “All Too Well” from her vault.
After wrapping up the filming of “Tropic Thunder” alongside Ben in 2007, Christine opted to step away from acting to dedicate her time to nurturing their children. During an interview on “The Morning Call” in 2010, she expressed that it didn’t feel like a significant choice for her. “When Ella was born,” she shared, “my world transformed. I couldn’t fathom the depth of love I had for this tiny being. I yearned to be present for every moment. With Ben having such a busy career, I felt it essential for one of us to serve as the anchor in our family.” Ben expressed his gratitude for her decision during an interview with “Parade” in 2016, stating that he considered himself “extremely lucky” for her choice.
Ben and I have been living a vegan lifestyle for over a decade now, and we encourage our children to follow suit. In an interview with People magazine in 2012, Christine shared that our family’s morning green drinks can sometimes seem alien to them. “I tell them, ‘Just come join the fun! Don’t whine so much, just hop on board with us,'” she joked.
The actress from Search Party then elaborated on Ella and Quinlin’s distinct preferences, stating that “Ella adores vegetables but isn’t fond of fruit, while Quinlin prefers fruit over veggies.” However, Christine remains optimistic, explaining that “It’s like a phase where parents aren’t cool for a bit, then suddenly they are. We just plant the seeds and hope they grow.
Ella frequently goes to events with her parents, but Quinlin seldomly appears in public events. However, he did attend the Project A.L.S. Benefit in 2018 with his family, which was his first such event. Back then, Christine shared with Us Weekly that it was a fun experience for him. She added that their daughter had encouraged Quinlin to come this time around, and they were able to make the event enjoyable because of the extended family they’ve built over the past 20 years, watching each other’s children grow up together.
2023 found me gracing the red carpet at Project ALS’s 25th Anniversary Gala – a night that combined style and substance. As parents who passionately champion this cause, my spouse Ben and I often share our beliefs with our children. As Christine, a board member for the organization, explained to Us Weekly in 2018, “It’s not just about staying up late on a school night or posing for pictures – it’s about discovering an extraordinary organization that makes a real difference.
