The BBC has revealed the actors for their forthcoming original series titled “Two Weeks in August.” This story begins with a tranquil vacation that eventually spirals into a mysterious and unexpected direction.
The summary, provided by the BBC, is about a tale where a woman embarks on a vacation alongside her loved ones, aiming to reignite happiness in her life.
However, in this idyllic setting, a forbidden kiss initiates a chain of events that transforms your blissful getaway into a harrowing ordeal.
Zoe embarks on fulfilling her heart’s deepest longings, transforming the vacation she dreamt of into a wake-up call for a band of grown-ups stuck in their youthful ways.
As they realize they’re stranded on the island and start encountering genuine survival-threatening predicaments, the band quickly begin accusing one another to determine who might be responsible.
The question ultimately boils down to: Is Zoe accountable for the chaos and devastation she encounters, or is it a larger, supernatural force that’s at work here? Given our location, we find ourselves in Greece, the realm where gods once roamed.
In a new adaptation, actress Jessica Raine from “Wolf Hall” and “The Devil’s Hour” takes on the main character, Zoe. Meanwhile, Damien Molony known for his roles in “Bergerac” and “Brassic,” will portray her husband, Dan.
In addition to Nicholas Pinnock from “The Book of Clarence,” Antonia Thomas from “Still Up,” Leila Farzad from “Kaos,” and Hugh Skinner from “Fleabag,” two other pairs of characters will be part of the journey. Their tales will unfold throughout eight episodes, with filming happening right now in Malta.
As a devoted admirer, let me express my sentiments about Catherine’s captivating scripts: From the get-go, they hooked me with their grandeur and depth, blending humor and tragedy seamlessly. It is an immense privilege to portray Zoe in this masterfully crafted tale. I feel truly honored.
In a collective statement from Roberto Troni, Kat Reynolds, and Shepherd, they expressed, “Each of these performers showcases an incredible versatility and luster in every role they take on.
As a film enthusiast, I’m utterly thrilled to have them gracing our Mediterranean screen together. Their chemistry is explosive, making them an absolute delight to watch. They manage to make us laugh until it hurts one moment, then tear up the next – truly embodying the essence of this production.
Lindsay Salt, the director of BBC Drama, commented: “This cast is unparalleled in bringing Catherine’s Two Weeks in August to the screen. It might not be desirable to spend a holiday with these characters, but the allure of witnessing their reunion unfold over eight sun-drenched episodes will prove impossible to resist.
As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the talented ensemble in this production features Dolly Wells, who breathes life into Dracula, Tom Goodman-Hill brings charm as Baby Reindeer, Dylan Brady charms us with Mary & George, Maria Almeida captivates audiences with The Strays, Khalil Gharbia adds intrigue to The Lost Boys, and Florence Banks graces the screen with her performance in The New Look.
Apart from them, you might encounter Sonny Poon Tip from the industry, Cassius Hackforth who’s famously known for Doctor Who, child performers Eliza and Anthony Lambon portraying Eve and Theo respectively, and Joe Dixon in roles as Solomon and Henry, Jess’s son.
