Best Buy Offers New Details About How to Get Its Exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 Collectible

On June 5th, when Nintendo Switch 2 officially launches, numerous stores will host midnight openings, enabling customers to purchase the latest console. Best Buy outlets are planning a reward for those who opt for in-store pickup – an exclusive collectible item. Last month, there was a mysterious hint about this from Best Buy, and now they have confirmed it’s going to be a special, limited edition coin. The retailer has shared additional information on how to obtain the coin, its design, and the quantity of coins each store will carry upon opening.

The design on the coin showcases the emblem for the Nintendo Switch 2 in red and white on one face, while the reverse side displays the Best Buy logo in a silver hue. As per @Wario64’s tweet, individual stores will receive between 25 to 150 of these coins. These coins are meant for customers picking up the console in person at the store, so if you’ve preordered the Nintendo Switch 2 online, it’s unlikely that you’ll get the coin as part of your package. Additionally, stores will be distributing sets of two character patches, featuring combinations such as Mario and Luigi, Peach and Toad, or Donkey Kong and Bowser. It appears that each Best Buy store is set to distribute between 25 and 150 special commemorative coins for the Switch 2’s late-night/midnight launch, while approximately 50 character patches will also be available at each location.

In essence, these additional features are nice add-ons, but they’re not significant enough to base your plans around. However, if you were already intending to visit Best Buy or another store for the midnight launch of Nintendo Switch 2, or for some other reason, it could be worth considering. It’s true that some stores may hold extra stock beyond what was offered through preorders. Yet, the coin itself is quite modest compared to the attractive incentives retailers have provided for Nintendo games in recent years, and it doesn’t quite match up to the best ones out there.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 is quite unique because it’s one of the rare retail offers that are available for it. Frankly, I think the system will sell itself, given its expected success. In fact, analysts predict that the Switch 2 could break records and become the fastest-selling video game console ever made. The demand for preorders is even surpassing Nintendo’s own expectations. So, if you haven’t secured a preorder yet or plan to buy it, I suggest taking advantage of late-night store openings to ensure you don’t miss out on this highly anticipated device.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut with only one physical first-party title, which is Mario Kart World.
