Best-Selling Star Wars Games Revealed in New Stats

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but be thrilled by the ongoing surge of Star Wars gaming releases. The way these games transport us into the vast galaxy far, far away is truly remarkable. From battling it out on the frontlines in Star Wars: Battlefront (2015), to surviving Order 66 as Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, each new game adds another layer to the rich Star Wars lore.

Star Wars gaming offers fresh tales set in the vastness of the galaxy and lets players explore key elements of the larger saga. Engage in intense battles as part of the Battlefront series or experience survival under Order 66 as Cal Kestis. This immersive experience is why Star Wars game launches have grown increasingly popular, leading to a surge in frequent releases within the past decade. According to Mat Piscatella, Executive Director & Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana, this trend is reflected in the top-selling Star Wars games as documented in his latest report.

According to a post by Piscatella on X (previously Twitter), this list of the top ten Star Wars games with the highest sales in the US is calculated based on total revenue generated and covers the period from January 1995 to May 2024. Here’s the order:

  1. Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
  2. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
  3. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017)
  4. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  5. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  6. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
  7. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005)
  8. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
  9. LEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy
  10. LEGO Star Wars

Approximately 70% of the list is occupied by “The Battlefront” and “LEGO Star Wars” entries. This isn’t shocking since these games consistently generate excitement with each new release or announcement. The LEGO Star Wars series, in particular, is popular for family entertainment, while Battlefront games offer multiplayer features that naturally draw interest as Star Wars multiplayer titles. It’s intriguing to see such a strong representation in this ranking, making EA’s reported decision to cancel Battlefront 3 even more puzzling. The company’s focus on single-player Star Wars Jedi games, which also appear in the ranking, seems to align with this shift – although the series’ sequel, Survivor, currently ranks six spots behind its predecessor.

Currently, it’s unclear if Respawn Entertainment is working on a third Star Wars Jedi game featuring Cal Kestis. However, hints suggest that such a project is probable. In the meantime, Ubisoft is set to enter the Star Wars gaming market with their open-world title, Star Wars Outlaws, which will be available starting August 30th.
