Nightreign is the versatile character, proficient in various fighting styles, but not exceptionally skilled in any particular one.
In Limveld, nearly all the treasure you discover – enchanted staffs, seals, bows, and even melee weapons – can be incorporated into Wylder’s versatile arsenal. This makes Wylder a highly adaptable member of any team, capable of adjusting his tactics swiftly.
In essence, his skills and growth work most effectively when he adopts a role as a frontline attacker. If your team has a support character such as Guardian or Revenant, Wylder can unleash maximum offensive power, dealing heavy damage and opening opportunities for other team members to follow suit.

How to play Wylder
If you’re fond of meticulously crafted gameplay mechanics, akin to those found in Elden Ring and the Souls series, then you’re likely familiar with the playstyle of Wylder in Nightreign.
In simpler terms, his most improved abilities are Strength, Dexterity, Health Points (HP), and Stamina. This makes him proficient in handling almost any melee weapon you might encounter in Limveld. Interestingly, when he uses a Greatsword, it exhibits a distinctive moveset, offering an ideal blend of speed, force, and reach.
Even though his primary ability, Claw Shot, reduces the need for ranged attacks in many situations, it’s still wise to carry a bow when dealing with enemies at very long distances. In essence, Wylder is a straightforward attacker who operates best up front and adheres to the philosophy that the most effective defense is a strong offense.
Although he may not be able to withstand as much damage as Guardian or Raider, Sixth Sense, Wylder’s passive ability, provides an added layer of protection, enabling him to shrug off one instance of lethal damage.
Wylder Abilities & Attributes
Wylder’s dual abilities, Claw Shot and Onslaught Strike, are exceptionally adaptable and useful in various situations. With the first skill, he can draw adversaries away from a group, making them easier targets for teammates to attack or enabling him to take on larger opponents from a distance.
Instead of using just the Onslaught Strike, which is a powerful blow causing enemies to fall, and the Claw shot on bosses separately, try using both together to generate massive damage opportunities for your teammates.
Abilities
- Passive: Sixth Sense – Allows Wylder to cheat death and survive taking fatal damage a single time.
- Character Skill: Claw Shot – Launches a grappling claw from Wylder’s left arm. Claw Shot is an incredibly versatile tool that can disrupt large groups of enemies by pulling in a single threat or as a free engage from afar for bigger enemies.
- Ultimate Art: Onslaught Strike – Single hit explosive iron stake. In practice, the best way to use Onslaught Strike is as a guaranteed knockdown on bosses to allow teammates a window to deal massive damage. If you’re in a pinch, it’s also excellent at finishing off packs of enemies.

Best Relic effects for Wylder
As a gamer, I’ve found that Relics serve as powerful enhancements for my chosen character. They amplify abilities, boost base stats, offer new starting Weapon Arts or elements, and much more. Initially, Wylder can utilize both Red and Blue Relics thanks to his Relic Rite. In the early stages of the game, these are the effects I’d prioritize:
This version maintains the original meaning while making it more conversational and first-person perspective as a gamer.
Early & Late Game
- Increased Poise
- Increased Strength
- Increased Dexterity
- Increased Endurance
- Increased Vigor
- Skill cooldown reduction
Unique Relic effects (Wylder only)
- Produce lingering fire effect after using Ultimate Art
- +1 Additional Claw Shot use
- Allows Follow-up attacks after using character skills (Greatsword only)
Best weapons for Wylder
In my gaming world as Wylder, I always make sure to prioritize Greatswords when rummaging through loot chests or defeated foes in Limveld. The unique perks they offer are just too enticing to pass up! Basically, these bad boys scale C in Strength and D in Dexterity, which means I can boost my damage output twice – a double win for me!
In the game Nightreign, the loot varies somewhat at random, yet the longer you manage to stay alive, the higher quality loot you’ll discover. There’s no certainty that you’ll stumble upon a specific Greatsword during any particular Expedition, but keep an eye out for these items as they are particularly valuable.
