Although Taylor Sheridan’s series appears to have concluded, it gives the impression that it might continue indefinitely. Despite already producing two spin-offs titled “1883” and “1923,” Paramount+ is now developing three additional series centered around “Yellowstone.” One of these upcoming shows will reportedly be a sequel, with a focus on characters Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), following the narrative beyond that of “Yellowstone.” Notably, this show has recently been given a new title and an exciting production update.
Previously, the media had nicknamed it a spinoff of Beth and Rip, but according to Bloomberg’s latest report, the upcoming series is going to be known as “Dutton Ranch.” It will deviate from the standard format by first airing on Paramount Network, followed by streaming on Paramount+ the next day. This marks the first time such a strategy is being implemented in the Yellowstone saga.
Although specific storylines are still under wraps for the upcoming series, it’s anticipated that it will deliver the customary blend of emotional turmoil, unexpected character developments, and potentially contentious scenes that could leave viewers vowing to abandon the show – only to tune in again the following week. It has been confirmed that Reilly and Hauser will once more take on their roles as Beth and Rip, embarking on new journeys at their Montana ranch; however, their fate remains undisclosed for now.
The ‘Yellowstone’ Legacy Lives On
In 2018, Yellowstone became an immediate sensation on Paramount+. However, its finale in 2024 was met with controversies, particularly due to the departure of main actor Kevin Costner from the series. Nevertheless, the final season managed to pull in a substantial audience, even if not universally praised by critics. The spin-offs, 1883 and 1923, also achieved success for the franchise. Now, there are upcoming shows like Dutton Ranch, The Madison featuring Michelle Pfeiffer, and a series focusing on Luke Grimes’ character Kayce Dutton in the pipeline.
Other offshoots, like “1944” and “6666”, are still thought to be under development, but their progress is less definite compared to other projects. Simultaneously, it’s clear that Sheridan won’t lack opportunities, as numerous shows he oversees are gearing up for their next seasons on Paramount+, further solidifying his influence there. Among these upcoming seasons are “Lioness”, “Tulsa King”, “Mayor of Kingstown”, and “Landman”. Notably, the latter has also cast Sam Elliott, a former star from “1883”, in a recurring role for its second season.
Though not everyone may enjoy Sheridan’s style of expansive TV series, it’s challenging to avoid encountering one of his shows when tuning into Paramount+. Furthermore, multiple films bearing the Sheridan seal are often popular on various streaming services simultaneously.
