Bethesda's Starfield gets a new Creation bringing DOOM into the Xbox RPG — and it's entirely free

  • There’s a new Creation in Starfield celebrating the 31st Anniversary of DOOM.
  • Developed by Kinggath and produced by Bethesda, this Creation is free.
  • It gives players a new mini-quest rewarding them with the Slayer’s armor.

As a lifelong gamer who’s seen the rise and fall of countless virtual worlds, I can confidently say that this “At Hell’s Gate” Creation for Starfield is a breath of fresh Martian air! Having grown up with the DOOM franchise, it’s heartwarming to see Bethesda and id Software celebrate its 31st anniversary in such an innovative way.

Across the Settled Systems, they are sending only you.

To mark the 31st anniversary of the DOOM series, Bethesda Softworks and id Software are offering a fresh creation for their upcoming space-themed RPG, Starfield, which is being developed by Bethesda Game Studios – id Software’s sister team at Bethesda Softworks.

As an analyst, I’m excited to share insights about “At Hell’s Gate,” a thrilling creation now accessible on Xbox Series X|S consoles and Windows PC, brought to life by the skilled team at Kinggath Creations and published by Bethesda Game Studios. By downloading this creation, players will unlock a fresh quest that rewards them with the iconic DOOM Slayer’s Praetor armor, Crucible Blade, and shotgun, along with an assortment of themed plushies perfect for embellishing outposts and spaceship interiors.

Best of all, this Creation is entirely free, so there’s no reason not to download it! Once you’ve downloaded it, simply approach an SSNN broadcast pillar in a major city.

In the Creations platform, gamers can seamlessly apply mods across various systems within Bethesda Game Studios’ games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. Bethesda occasionally distributes free or paid additional content through this system, enabling players to quickly download fresh material using Creation credits.

Starfield closes out a solid 2024

This year has seen several significant upgrades for Starfield, including much-anticipated additions such as drivable automobiles and accomplishments that align well with Creations.

Alongside the debut of the Shattered Space expansion, Starfield has achieved another significant feat – reaching 15 million players across all platforms. I can’t help but wonder what exciting developments the team has planned for next year. It seems likely that we’ll witness further updates and possibly some form of paid downloadable content, although the specifics remain to be seen.

Apart from an exciting mini-adventure in Starfield, the DOOM festivities will persist in 2025, and id Software’s DOOM: The Dark Ages is one of the games I’m most eager to play this year. With its Medieval atmosphere and weapons, along with the Slayer’s fantastic new look (a fur cape certainly adds a touch of coolness, though I didn’t set the style guidelines), I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

It’s likely that we’ll have another opportunity to view their work soon, as Xbox has traditionally hosted a Direct showcase featuring some of their first-party games around the start of each year (2023, 2024, and potentially 2025). Given this pattern, it seems probable that we’ll get an update on the progress of id Software’s development of the Slayer character in the near future.

At the moment, Starfield can be played on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Just like other Xbox first-party games, it is also included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription as well as the PC Game Pass.
