Beyoncé Makes History With 2025 Grammy Nominations

As a fan of Beyoncé and her extraordinary talent, I must say that with every new album, she continues to push boundaries, challenge norms, and create music that resonates deeply with millions around the world. Her latest release, “Renaissance,” is no exception. The album’s 27 tracks offer a rich tapestry of sounds, emotions, and experiences, all woven together by Beyoncé’s unique voice and storytelling abilities.

The Recording Academy laid their cards down—and gave Beyoncé her flowers.

Her country album “Cowboy Carter” not only received an impressive 11 Grammy nominations for 2025, including bids for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, but it also secured her a fifth Album of the Year nomination. This brings her total Grammy nominations to a record-breaking 99, making her the most nominated artist in Grammy history. Previously, she was tied with her husband, Jay-Z, in terms of nominations.

For all the nominations, head on over here.

The singer known for “Bodyguard” recently achieved something significant, this happening several months after her spouse criticized the Grammy Awards organization at the 2024 event for overlooking his wife in the Album of the Year category despite her having won a total of 32 awards. (Notably, she hasn’t yet taken home an Album of the Year award.)

He emphasized on stage that it’s important for everyone to strive for accuracy, even if it’s not perfectly right – just close. He added that while music is subjective and based on personal opinions, there are certain aspects he feels strongly about. Interestingly, there’s an artist who has won more Grammys than anyone else in the past, but has never taken home the Album of the Year award.

Besides that incident, Beyoncé, aged 43, experienced another slight this year when she was left out of the 2024 CMA Awards nominations, even though Cowboy Carter had been consistently ranking on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart for weeks.

Yet, the artist hailing from Houston isn’t new to feelings of exclusion. On the contrary, her country album was a humorous response to an incident several years back when she didn’t feel included. She further explained that it was quite obvious at the time that she wasn’t welcomed there.

In her Instagram post from March 19th, she expressed that this specific experience led her to delve more deeply into the past of Country music. She also took the time to explore and appreciate our extensive musical heritage. It’s heartening to witness how music can bring together people from all corners of the globe, while at the same time amplifying the voices of those who have devoted their lives to educating us about our musical history.

But let’s be clear, as Beyoncé noted, her album isn’t necessarily meant to be categorized.

She clarified that this isn’t typical of a Country album. Instead, it’s more like a Beyoncé album. Essentially, this is the second act of COWBOY CARTER, and I’m excited to present it to you all!

In the opening track of “Cowboy Carter,” I, as a devoted follower, sense that Beyoncé is expressing herself openly to those who’ve criticized me, possibly hinting at the controversy that ensued after our joint performance at the CMA Awards in 2016.

She sings, “People once said I spoke too ‘Rustic,’ and they claimed I wasn’t ‘Authentic enough.’ But if that isn’t ‘Country,’ then tell me, what is? For years, I’ve stood with my bare feet firmly on the ground. They don’t realize how much struggle it took for me to get here.

Initially, spectators observed that the CMA Awards seemed to remove her collaborative show with The Chicks. Yet, in a communication with TopMob News, the association clarified that they actually deleted a promotional video instead.

Apart from transforming Dolly Parton’s iconic song “Jolene” into a personal rendition, “Jolene, I’m a woman too / The tricks you play are nothing fresh / So you don’t want trouble with me, Jolene,” she also enlisted the help of Ms. Parton for a segment that paid homage to another popular figure: Becky with the impressive hairdo, known as “Becky with the good hair.

Hello Miss Honey B, it’s Dolly P here. There was this woman who reminded me of the one you sing about with the stunning hair. She’s from the past, but let me tell you, she had locks as fiery as auburn. Ain’t that something? It might not be the same shade, but girl, it still hurts just as much.

“However, if you aren’t prepared for this confrontation, take a chance with someone else instead (I’ve made myself clear).

In this performance, the 32-time Grammy award recipient pointed out an oversight at the 2024 Grammys that was hard to miss: She wasn’t awarded the Album of the Year for her album titled Renaissance.

Indeed, as her spouse, Jay-Z, performed that evening, he couldn’t resist acknowledging the significance of the occasion, a point she is quick to emphasize.

She croons, “A-O-T-Y, I haven’t won yet (Let’s go) / I’m not boasting about it, but…

The melodic single “Protector” starts off with Rumi, her daughter, asking about a lullaby.)

The artist, who is not only a singer but also the mother of Sir (Rumi’s twin brother) and Blue Ivy (the eldest), ponders her role as a parent. “Born to be a guardian, yes indeed / Though I know one day you’ll dazzle all on your own.

“In essence, I serve as your screen, yes, indeed. Like an apricot plucked fresh from a tree, that’s how I am,” she remarks. “I nourished the earth with water / Now it sustains me, absolutely, definitely (Definitely). And there you are, comfortably sheltered beneath it all / I take pride in myself / Because you rely on me.

Completing her 27-track album is “Amen,” a song that takes listeners full circle to the initial proclamation about beginning anew and creating a unique experience.

She croons, ‘Let’s pray for the past / We’re the ones to cleanse the wrongs of our ancestors.’ She titles it ‘American Requiem / Here lie the outdated notions (Yes), yes indeed.’
