Beyond Paradise season 3 begins filming as old face returns to series

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for British mysteries and heartwarming dramas, I must say that the news of Beyond Paradise‘s third season is like a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day. Having followed this spin-off from its inception, I am particularly excited about the return of Jamie Bamber as Martha’s ex, Archie Hughes. The intrigue surrounding their past relationship adds an extra layer to the already captivating narrative.

Today, there’s exciting news for enthusiasts of Beyond Paradise: The BBC has officially announced that production on the third series of the Death in Paradise spin-off is underway.

The broadcaster hinted that the upcoming series will present even more captivating mysteries for the Shipton Abbott crew to unravel, as we rejoin Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and Martha (Sally Bretton) in Devon after their season finale almost led to their wedding.

In the upcoming season, we’ll witness the duo persisting with their emotional journey of foster care, while fresh cases promise intrigue: an enigmatic river drowning at the county border, a puzzling case of chocolate box poisoning, a longstanding farming dispute, and an alarming spike incident on the water. So, buckle up, fans, as there’s plenty to anticipate!

Another exciting development, undeniably stirring curiosity, involves the comeback of a character known from the first season: Jamie Bamber is back to once again play Martha’s ex, Archie Hughes, a role he last portrayed during the second season’s hiatus.

As a seasoned police officer with years of experience under my belt, I find myself intrigued by the upcoming season’s synopsis. Having worked closely with foster families and navigated the complexities of their lives, I can appreciate the challenges that Martha and Humphrey may face as they step into this new role. The unexpected hurdles mentioned in the synopsis pique my curiosity, as I know from personal experience that foster parenting is a journey filled with twists and turns.

As Esther faces an unexpected event in her personal life, Anne’s health issue revives old pains, while Kelby sets off on a path to self-development.

Stars reprising their roles for the upcoming season are Zahra Ahmadi as Detective Sergeant Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as Police Constable Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd, Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins, Jade Harrison as Chief Superintendent Charlie Woods, and Melina Sinadinou as Zoe Williams.

Tim Key, the executive producer, expressed his joy at returning for what’s anticipated to be the program’s “most robust season” yet.

He expressed: “It’s a joy for us to create this show, and the audience’s reaction has been terrific. It’s particularly thrilling to have Jamie Bamber return to Shipton Abbott; we can hardly contain our excitement as we look forward to sharing with everyone what we’ve been working on.”

In April, when season 2 concluded, it was announced soon afterward that the series would have a holiday special along with its upcoming third season.

The series “Beyond Paradise” is coming back for another season this Christmas. If you can’t wait, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 right now by streaming them on BBC iPlayer.
