As a long-time wrestling enthusiast with memories etched deep into the annals of the sport, I must say that the recent appearance of Big Boom AJ at AEW Full Gear was a delightful throwback to the good ol’ days. The man can still pack a punch, and his spear on QT Marshall was reminiscent of the old-school wrestling moves we’ve come to love.
The Costco Guys brought the Boom to AEW Full Gear.
During the early 2000s, Big Boom AJ showcased his wrestling skills professionally on the independent circuit in the Northeast. After retiring in 2005, following a partnership with Jim Neidhart, he has occasionally reappeared. His last match took place this year at Coastal Championship Wrestling, just before the Full Gear Zero Hour event.
Numerous fans of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) were struck by AJ’s skills despite not being a full-time competitor. In fact, Big Justice delivered a spear on QT Marshall that would make The Big himself proud. During the post-match press conference at AEW Full Gear, AJ spoke about his future in wrestling.
In a playful manner, AEW President Tony Khan urged A.J. to contribute more to AEW, indicating that he would make a comeback if invited. “I genuinely enjoy it here. I truly do. I love every moment of this. If I’m given the chance, I’ll be back and I promise to bring the excitement!
It appears that the TikTok celebrity who became famous earlier this year isn’t likely to commit full-time to this role. Instead, he’s dedicating his time to his creative endeavors while valuing the chances he’s received due to his sudden fame, such as AEW. AJ and Justice have garnered more than 2 million followers collectively on their various social media accounts, a number that keeps growing.
AJ expressed that he’s having a blast in his current situation and truly appreciates what Big Justice offers them. He mentioned they’ve been fortunate to encounter figures like Mr. Beast, some of the world’s top content creators, collaborate with Costco, and work with leading global brands. He also highlighted their ability to maintain contact with their audience. However, AJ doesn’t envision a title run in his near future.
At Full Gear event, Jon Moxley retained the AEW World Championship by overcoming Orange Cassidy. Post-match, the usual chaotic behavior of Death Riders ensued. Initially, Willow Nightingale assaulted Marina Shafir. Subsequently, “Hangman” Adam Page appeared, seemingly planning to join them but instead attacked Moxley. Christian Cage tried to use his title opportunity, only for Jay White to prevent it. Lastly, Darby Allin smashed his skateboard through their windshield and emerged victorious in AEW.
