The popular Channel 4 comedy “Big Boys” is set to return for its last season, and we have the release date!
For Channel 4+ Premiere subscribers, the first three episodes are accessible now for streaming. However, starting at 10 pm on Sunday, 9th February, viewers without a subscription can tune in to Channel 4 to catch the episodes. Two episodes will be broadcast consecutively during that time.
In this university-set comedy, written and narrated by Jack Rooke, the cast includes Dylan Llewellyn, Jon Pointing, Camille Coduri, Katy Wix, Izuka Hoyle, Olisa Odele, Harriet Webb, and Annette Badland.
As per the summary for season 3, they will spend their last year at Brent University, which brings about a mix of highs and lows with dissertation work, looming deadlines, dating experiences, and (significantly impacting Jack) Louis Walsh’s departure from The X Factor.
The summary goes on: “Peggy and Shannon venture into fresh romantic endeavors and endless diaper adjustments, while the bond between Jack and Danny is strained to its maximum as they both grasp that grown-up responsibilities are looming.
“Will the boys still choose each other like before, or will this be the end of the road?”
In a statement, Rooke expressed his surprise when the third and final season was officially announced, saying: “I took a comedy-theater show about grief and friendship that was quite shabby to a wet cave at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival ten years ago. I never imagined it would become a funny, heartwarming sitcom about an average guy and his unlikely best friend who is a bit of a geek, ten years later.
My trusted friend and therapist, who happens to be a lesbian, proposed an intriguing idea: “Big Boys” might unconsciously represent my struggle with saying a true farewell to specific individuals or chapters in my life. To have the opportunity to bid this production a formal goodbye is truly an honor.
From the very start, I was aware of how things would ultimately unfold, yet I fervently pray that the finale remains true to our early performances in Edinburgh, while also showcasing the collective brilliance of our talented actors, technicians, and creative minds who worked tirelessly on this project.
I will forever be grateful to them for providing me with the most hilarious, joyful years during our work on Big Boys 1-3. A big thank you!
